Since 2018, it has been one beautiful journey of becoming, and when I look back at all the years, all the seasons, all the versions of ourselves we have been, I cannot help but thank God for the gift of you.

We have cried together, laughed until we could barely breathe, prayed together, served together, done ministry together, and watched God write stories we could only dream of. We have witnessed each other in seasons of uncertainty and seasons of becoming. We have held space for each other’s tears, celebrated each other’s victories, spoken life into each other’s dreams, and, of course, been a little delusional together about the beautiful things we believe God will do. And I would not trade any of it for the world.

Vanessa, you are one of the most remarkable women I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Beautiful, brilliant, intentional, generous, and so full of life. A woman with a heart for God, a hunger for His presence, a voice that carries His Word, and a heart that will go out of its way to make sure the people around her are okay. You are a preacher, an evangelist, a prayer machine, a woman of conviction, and a woman with dreams so big that you cannot help but be excited about what lies ahead of you.

Happy birthday, my love. May this next chapter be as beautiful as the heart you carry, and may your life continue to be a testimony of the goodness of God. 💋

And yet, one of the things I love most about you is that, for all the greatness you carry and all the dreams you are pursuing, you have never made me feel like my own dreams were too big, too ambitious, or too much. You have made room for my becoming while courageously pursuing yours. You have celebrated me, encouraged me, believed with me, and reminded me that there is room for both of us to flourish. That kind of friendship is a gift, and I hope you know how deeply I treasure it.

I have watched you grow. I have watched you stretch, evolve, advance, and step into more of who God has called you to be. And there is something so special about watching someone you love become more confident in their calling, more grounded in who they are, and more courageous about the life they want to live. A question that only the power of the Most High can answer.

Sometimes, God will speak things over your life that your humanity cannot comprehend. But what He has spoken will not depend on your ability to make it happen. There’s a more superior power, He overshadows humanity, He overshadows voices, talents, plans, purpose… Such that what is birthed through one’s life is beyond human explanation.

If you’re asking yourself how? The answer is;
Not by your power, might, intellect, accolades… but BY HIS SPIRIT.

MERCY SPEAKS FOR ME.

The mercy that found Bartimaeus on the roadside and gave him sight speaks for me.

The mercy that stood with Joshua the high priest when the accuser had something to say, speaks for me.

The mercy that kept Job through loss, pain and restoration speaks for me.

The mercy that heard Hannah when she was misunderstood, mocked and barren, speaks for me.

The mercy that visited Elizabeth in her old age and made her carry a promise she had almost stopped expecting, speaks for me.

The mercy that found David in the field, took him from tending sheep and positioned him for the throne, speaks for me.

The mercy that pursued Ruth, a foreigner with no obvious advantage, and brought her into a lineage of kings, speaks for me.

The mercy that looked at Rahab, gave her a new story and placed her in the lineage of Jesus, speaks for me.

The mercy that restored Peter after his denial and still entrusted him with purpose, speaks for me.

The mercy that met Paul on the road to Damascus and transformed a persecutor into a vessel for the Gospel, speaks for me.

I have seen enough in Scripture to know that God does not need perfect circumstances to write a beautiful story.

He needs a willing vessel.

The AWS Summit has always been one of those events I always wanted to attend and somehow, God had me on the OTHER side of it, helping bring it to life. 🥹
