Well the time has come for me to leave @skiportillo

It’ll take a moment to get over this place.

Add it to your bucket list. It’s one of those trips you have to do.

I have not had a bad moment since walking through the front door over a week ago.

Sad to be leaving.

The storm continues to dump the goods. This is spring time right?!

No one can believe it. The last few days have been beyond belief - over 11m for the season.

When is it too much?!

Love this place.

The rich just keep getting richer, as @skiportillo approaches 1.6 m (63 in) from this latest storm, taking their season total to 12.1 m (476 in). The storm total has eclipsed 1 m (3 ft) @valle_nevado as well, as the snow continues to come down. Thank you, Super El Niño.

A major spring storm unloaded 1 m (3 ft) of fresh snow @skiportillo, where they’ve had their snowiest season in more than 50 years. The season total is over 11.5 m (37.5 ft) and the road is closed once again. Hopefully it’ll open for a few more powder days before they close down this weekend.

05.10.26 - Portillo - PUKING! Road CLOSED

The storm has come and dumped at least 40cms in the last 24hrs with another two days of snow we could end up with over 90cms in total. How’s this possible?!?

INSANE

The runs here are steep - and the snow is DEEP!

Lost for words.

Not sure when the road reopens or when I get home.

For the moment I’m enjoying the snow. Solving those problems is for tomorrow’s me.

03.10.26 - Portillo - Perfect day of spring skiing! Road is open.

After yesterday’s storm the day started with perfect clear skies. The mountains surrounding @hotelportillo are just incredible.

Typical spring skiing today - hard packed early but softening as the day progressed.

There’s a reason both the US and Canadian national ski team are here - this place is lit. Really solid intermediate to advanced skiing. If you’re looking to level up - it’s a great place to come.

The tip to skiing here in spring is you start the day on the sunny side then move over to she shaded side after lunch.

02.10.26 - Portillo Mtn/road closures and a POLICE escort!

Conditions @skiportillo? Well as you’ve seen I almost got blown off the mtn - total mtn closure! Tomorrow looks heaps better. With more snow on the way from Sunday.

Getting up here was a bit of a drama. Packed up to leave Valle Nevado yesterday morning (Thursday) and checked the travel time mid-morning… road CLOSED.

Google confirmed it - closed until Saturday! So I booked 2 more nights at VN - didn’t want to sleep in the car (that’s for when I’m broke).

Then I found out that the pass opened at midday BUT only for guests with a Hotel Portillo reservation.

Berk. I’d already paid for the extra nights in VN, so I cancelled that and hit the road to Portillo.

Now working with Airbnb 😳 for a refund.

When I got to the bottom of the valley I managed to score a police escort up to my accom.

Make sure to check resort access before travelling up!
