Stop what you’re doing and download this immediately. @veronicaroth has written one of the best books I’ve read all year. This one will be hard to beat. I am blown away. Seek the Traitor’s Son is the high stakes, genre straddling, epic masterpiece you need to add to your tbr immediately.

The audiobook is amazing. This is probably one book that I would strongly encourage you to listen and read together. The narrators are fantastic, it’s a must do audiobook but the plot is complicated and there’s a lot of world building and characters that you will want the map to look at, and you’ll want to be able to flip back for reference. @imanijadepowers captured Elegy’s confidence, and matter of factness beautifully @heyitsmaxmeyers brought Theren’s charisma and quiet steadiness to life in a perfect way. @rebeccasoler1 is such a fantastic narrator, who I remember, capturing Violet in Fourth Wing perfectly, captures Hela with all her flare. We don’t hear many parts with Steve West but those parts have high impact.

Cath is kind, hopeful, and full of dreams, nothing like the Queen of Hearts we know, which makes watching those dreams get crushed by “well-meaning” parents and a sexist society absolutely rage-inducing. Enter Jest: the court joker, witty, charming, chaos incarnate, and the only one who truly sees her.

The romance is sweet, sharp, and doomed in the most heartbreaking way. This wrecked me, and by the end I completely understood how someone becomes the Queen of Hearts.

Honestly? I’d be yelling “off with their heads” too.

In a world of magic, monsters, and madness, kindness is rare, and that’s how the Queen of Hearts became Heartless.

Magical. Romantic. Devastating. 👑💔✨🃏

This one shows you how she was made. 🖤

This book as recommended to me by @authorkayleeroman and I am so happy it was! It starts slow, gets interesting in the middle, but ends with a bang! Highly recommend. I did this as an immersive read, and the audio for this is absolutely outstanding, @rebeccasoler1 was fantastic (I will hear that bumbling King forever). And you will not convince me that these lyrics are not Cath and Jest coded!
