I’m slightly (very) scared of heights and have never considered myself brave enough to walk in the NZ bush solo. It’s very hard to photograph a story about women hiking alone without intruding on the solitude of those solo hikers! So thanks to writer and tramper @rebekahwh I’ve been out in nature hanging out with some very cool women like @naomijarnold who hiked @teararoanztrail solo and @fionamcconnochie who runs a group encouraging more women to get their confidence up to get out into the bush alone. Special thanks to @katemdermer who waited for me as I freaked out going down the east side of Ruapehu because it was so steep and to @rebekahwh who carried more than her fair share of gear each time we went into the bush! Check out the story in the latest issue of @nzgeo I hope reading the story does for many what the assignment did for me, which was to boost my belief in myself and remind me how amazing it is to push yourself (and to always carry duct tape so you can tape your boots back together when they fall apart). by @rebekahwh

I’m recovering from a chronic fatigue relapse so I don’t have anything interesting going on but here’s some pics from the last time I was in this situation. Two years ago Sambal was a tiny guy and he’d only just been abandoned in a shrubbery. And I’d only just started getting my wits back after a long stretch of illness during which I was also crazed by depression. Then Sambal turned up in Benj’s garden and fell asleep on me like in the second pic and that was maybe the greatest day of my life? Anyway, now he is a grown man and I sleep more than he does.

Conclusion: every sick person should be allowed one cat. Like, sorry you might have this condition for life but here, look, a kitten! taken in Auckland, New Zealand by @rebekahwh

things I liked in Zürich: calligraphy on your house, floating down a river, picnic in between episodes of floating down a river, Swantje finding a swantje to make her feel at home, squaredle on a pristine train
