Long legs & a good time . by @rebekca__
Dear Diary,🫧 Entry: Rebekca N. James (BSc.Banking and Finance) I started UWI dreaming of doing law, but financial constraints and the fear of “lifelong debt”-yes, that $10,000 USD × 3+ held me back. So I chose Banking and Finance, my second option, and thankfully received a scholarship that covered everything. From the start, I knew it wasn’t my only passion, but I pushed through with blood, sweat, and tears and still finished in three years. You may ask, “Why didn’t you switch?” But in the end, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I failed four courses—including Microeconomics twice—and it crushed me. But I kept going. And if I hadn’t done this degree, I would’ve never: 📍Been crowned Miss Social Sciences 2024 @uwimona_fss 📍Become a VM Scholar (2022–2024) @myvmgroup 📍Served as President of the In-Reach Programme @sistas_msh 📍Served as NAFI UWI Guild PRO @nafi_uwimona 📍Won 1st, 2nd & Final Year of the Year @crowdblock.elite_msh 📍Received the UWI Award for Excellence (2025) – Service ⚖️ Today, I’m proud to say I’m FINALLY pursuing my law degree, praying for scholarships and sponsorships that will bring me closer to becoming one of the greatest attorneys the Caribbean has ever seen. I may not see the end of the road yet, but I know with God and my family, my success is FAR FROM FINISHED. See you again in 2028!🍾 ~Rebekca James (BSc.Banking and Finance) #uwimona #uwigraduate #classof2025 by @rebekca__
