Blending Two Cultures Through Modern Design

One bag of random leftover fabrics. One week to create. No choosing my own materials. No starting with a vision board. Just creativity, adaptability, and trust in the process. ✂️✨ Last month, I participated in a pilot program called Fash-A-Thon: a sustainability-focused design challenge where each designer was given a mystery bag of deadstock fabrics and tasked with transforming them into a runway-ready garment in just 7 days. As someone who typically begins with carefully selected fabrics, this pushed me far outside my comfort zone… and honestly? I loved it. In the spirit of sustainability and versatility, I designed a 2-in-1 gown that transforms into a cocktail dress: giving one garment multiple lives instead of just one moment (swipe to the end to see both looks) ♻️✨ This challenge reminded me that limitations often create the most unexpected creativity. Fashion doesn’t always need more “new”; sometimes it just needs a new perspective.
