Below are some things I keep in mind when putting art on a jacket…

1. Starting out with a sketch. Sometimes a design may just be digital but I’ve found that sketching allows me more creativity and control in my designs. The flames on this jacket were hand drawn on paper then digitized.
2. I plan out everything. Having all my thoughts clear on what it is I want, makes the process so much easier. I take a picture of the clothing item, throw it in photoshop or print it out. Then lay out my designs over it to see what works before I print.
3. Having the right materials, for home printing I use water based fabric speedball ink. I never use oil based. I use a wooden platform to create a elevated flat printing surface below the garment so it’s not just laying on the floor.
4. Making sure the screen and stencil are flush with the clothing item is my biggest struggle for a lot of pieces. If parts of a screen aren’t fully touching the fabric then ink could leak through and ruin a garment.
5. Drying the ink right after printing with a heat gun allows me to quickly stack stencils on top of each other.

I think making custom jewelry would be sick af, I found a metal shop that doesn’t have a minimum order for casting rings. Gonna be doing a test order soon.
