POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Inburgering has arrived in Tokyo 🇯🇵
Very happy to share that Inburgering is one of 50 photobooks selected for the Ephemere Photo Fest 2026 Photobook Exhibition, curated by Anne Murayama.
There is something very special about knowing that this handmade book has travelled from my table in Amsterdam all the way to Tokyo — and will now be held, opened and read by new hands.

Thank you @anne.murayama and @ephemere.tokyo for selecting Inburgering and for taking such care of all these books.

Tokyo friends, please go turn the pages for me. :)

Three wonderful days of conversations, exchanges, and new directions during Mediation Week. I arrived alone and left feeling part of a community. Many different mother tongues, one shared language.

The handmade artist book INBURGERING is a finalist in the Dummy category of the 2026 Encontros da Imagem Photobook Award, while the photographic series was selected for the Portfolio Reviews.

Thank you, @eimagem for welcoming Inburgering in both forms.

Inburgering in Bologna 🇮🇹
Last Sunday was the last day of PhMuseum Days 2026 — Archipelago, where Inburgering was one of 20 projects selected through the Open Call for the Screening Program at Bastardini.
I couldn’t be in Bologna this time, but the work was — leaving the pages of the book and entering image, sound and time.
A special thank you to @rosalacavalla and @manuela.nadeo for sending me a little glimpse from afar 🩷 and to @phmuseum @phmuseumdays for bringing Inburgering to Bologna.

The photobook is more alive than ever.
A few moments from Fiebre Photobook Fest in Madrid, where Inburgering became a cinelibro as part of the works presented by @rama.residencia.
Photography left the page and entered time — through movement, sound, rhythm and sequence. It was beautiful to see so many different ways a book can continue to exist beyond its physical form.
And, of course, one of the best parts: being there with @angelaberlinde 🩷
Books can be touched, projected, listened to, dismantled, reconstructed and imagined again.
The photobook is more alive than ever.
Thank you @fiebrephotobook and RAMA for bringing the cinelibros into the festival.

She never had to learn to belong here. She just does.
Watching her, I understand what ten years of trying taught me — belonging isn’t earned. It grows.
From Inburgering.

🇧🇷
Ela nunca precisou aprender a pertencer aqui. Ela simplesmente pertence.
Cresce.

Roots: not as something fixed, but as something that keeps finding its way through.
From Inburgering, a work about ten years of learning to belong.

In many cultures, butterflies carry profound meanings. For Native Americans, they symbolize transformation, hope, and rebirth—reminding us of the beauty in life's constant changes. In Chinese culture, butterflies are symbols of freedom, earthly beauty, love, and the human soul.

As I captured this delicate moment, I reflected on how nature continuously offers us reminders of the things that truly matter: growth, connection, and beauty in the simplest of forms. 🦋 by @rechede
