These are the top 5 things I WISH I knew when I started music teaching…

1.) Get everything for your business set up - ABN, public liability insurance, and any clearances you need.

2.) Just put yourself out there! Starting is half the battle 🫶🏼

3.) Build your teaching resources/materials as early as you can. You’ll use everything FOREVER!

4.) Organise what your admin will look like (Recite can help you out with that one 😉)

5.) Don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice from your music teaching friends! We all started somewhere ♥️

🤩 What an incredible day at the @sacsaus Adelaide Clarinet & Saxophone Festival! 🤩

We had the most amazing time meeting fellow musicians, teachers, vendors and other people in the music industry. We were able to share Recite with a wide range of people, and make music with 100+ clarinets and saxes! 🎷

Thank you to @sacsaus for having us, we are in awe of your hard work to bring the Clarinet and Saxophone community together and cannot wait for next year’s event 🥰

It was great for us to be back at @adelaideuni where we met each other, and at the @elderconservatorium where Lev completed her Honours in performance.

My top 5 things worth your money as a music teacher:

1.) An automatic timetabling system
• this is going to save you SO much time! Just put in your students and lesson durations and press go 😍

2.) An automated billing schedule
• getting paid on a regular basis is unheard of for music teachers, so this is a game changer.

3.) Digital lesson notes
• no more ‘I forgot my practice diary’, keeping everything online ensures smooth communication about lesson recaps and expectations for practice.

4.) A parent/student portal
• having a space for parents to log in and view invoices and lesson times, or students to log in and double check lesson times/practice notes is crucial.

5.) A Recite subscription
• because…. Why wouldn’t you want everything above in one place? 😉

Let’s get something straight… Recite wasn’t built by AI. It was built by this guy, Sam!

In a world where AI seems to be surrounding us at a crazy rate (and AI generated posters staring you in the face 🫪), every feature, bug fix or reply to your email is handled by Sam. He spends countless hours (and we genuinely mean this) on Recite behind the scenes, and takes immense pride in providing genuine, human customer service and tech support.

We’re a fully owner-operated business, developed here in South Australia. No outsourcing, no chatbots, just two people who wanted to fix a problem (and one of us happens to be really good at coding 😜).
