We are pleased to welcome Mikhail Brown (@mikhailmax ) to the Reconnected world 🌍

Mikhail joins us from a career spanning the media and design industries across South Africa 🇿🇦 - a combination that naturally maps on to our work to make way for innovative solutions and partnerships. In this role Mikhail will lead the development of our commercial partnerships and help build out our proprietary pipelines, curriculums and project portfolios in rural and peri-urban development across Southern Africa.

Based in Texas 🇺🇸, Mr Sylvester Carter IV began his career in finance and investment before expanding into music and film, where he developed a deep understanding of how culture and capital intersect. His journey from the rural backdrops of the American South to global entertainment and entrepreneurship aligns closely with our mission to create inclusive, sustainable development models for Africa’s rural and small-town economies.

As an Advisory Board member, he brings strategic insight and a grounded belief that opportunity should not be limited by geography. His perspective will be invaluable as we continue shaping initiatives that connect African talent, enterprise, and investment with the wider world.

Dr. Anthony Otigbu (PhD) is a clinical development specialist with experience designing and delivering high-impact learning and capacity-building programs for entrepreneurs and emerging leaders. They say your 20s are for learning and your 30s are for building.

I’ve spent the last decade chasing every “peak” I could find. From growing up in European schools to the grit of Joburg in South Africa 🇿🇦

I’ve sat front row at Fashion Week, made music for global ads, styled major celebrities and hit the international award platforms for my original work.

But lately, the city noise just wasn’t hitting the same. I realized I didn’t want to just be in the room anymore—I wanted to build the house.

So, I’m 29 and I’m making the pivot. I’ve moved back home to the rural Northwest to be closer to family and to build something with real roots. With everything happening in SA right now—from BRICS to the G20—there has never been a more critical time for local intelligence and venture building. I’m putting all my energy into:

When we started REconnecteD Ventures, we thought we had all the answers. But building a business (especially in Africa) is really about always asking better questions. Every day has been a lesson in resilience, clarity, and strategy.

It’s only been 2 months officially and 10 months since I decided to take this leap but it already feels like a lifetime of growth.

I’ve met people who wanted impossible commissions just to make introductions, so I decided to do the work myself. Over the past few months, I’ve sat down virtually with private investors, government regulators, and local entrepreneurs across Africa, Europe and Asia to understand what truly drives sustainable growth.

Those conversations shaped our model. They helped us form an international advisory board, secure MOUs, and design frameworks that bridge investors and rural innovators.

The road is rocky, but the vision remains clear: to build an ecosystem that make more African businesses unshakable from the ground up.
