just stopping by to give @koeppeldesign their flowers because I mean 😍👏🏾. I just unboxed my newest custom divider and I absolutely love it. Our vinyl collections are snippets into who we are (I fully judge people by their taste in music 😂) and I’m so appreciative that Kate and her team allow me to celebrate my identity by highlighting the different genres of my collection that matter to me most. In 2020 after the summer uprisings I wanted to create a designated section for my Malcolm X/Black Panther Party/Gil Heron discographies and had the idea for a custom divider with the Black Power fist. It was delivered beautifully. Now we’re back with this new custom piece of the African continent- which really for anyone who knows me needs no explanation. I finally now have the designated section for my Fela Kuti collection and other albums from the continent. I’m obsessed ya’ll 😍 .

Happy 50th Anniversary to my favorite album of all time 💕 It’s no secret that my two favorite artists are Sade and Stevie Wonder- so much so that I have a savings account devoted just for the day they go on tour again. Of course this time around @ticketmaster played me with saying my tickets to the LA show were sold out- even though I still had 4 minutes left in the cart 😭. So for now, it’s going to still just be Stevie and I at home 😂. .

@kokorokomusic has easily become one of my favorite bands. So when I heard they were releasing Tempos Difíceis Sempre Passam, a reimagining of their 2025 album Tuff Times Never Last, with contemporary Brazilian artists, I RAN to order. The preorder was just delivered and as expected, it’s amazing! .

Africa Day always feels like a reminder that the continent has never stopped shaping the world through culture, politics, music, resistance, language, and innovation. May 25 marks the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963, but it’s also become a day to reflect on Pan-Africanism, liberation movements, and the continued fight for self-determination across the continent and diaspora.

Playing Authority Stealing today feels intentional. Fela Kuti never separated music from politics, and this album captures that perfectly. Between the hypnotic instrumentation and sharp social commentary, he challenged corruption, exploitation, and the abuse of power in a way that still lands today. The album feels like both a celebration of African musical brilliance and a reminder of the role artists have always played in speaking truth to power.

Happy Africa Day! For more information check out the amazing post from @allthingsafrica_

It’s no secret that Sade is my favorite musical group! I came across this European pressing of one of Sade’s earlier performances in Japan and I knew I had to add this to my collection….and then I saw the current resale prices. Absolutely not! Haha I ended up finding this copy on the Indonesian @tokopedia for $45 USD and then ended up ordering and shipping through Shipn’N to get this here ($160) to the states. It’s the most I’ve ever done to add a record to my collection- but since my birthday is coming up- I definitely had a treat yourself moment! How far have you gone to add a record to your collection?

The current series on Afro jazz by @chefkdee is one of my favorite parts of IG right now because YES to everything she has posted so far (go check it out if you haven’t seen her videos yet). So of course now that I finally got my hands on this RSD release from @kokorokomusic I had to quickly take it for a spin before work😍. They are everything! I’m very much looking forward to seeing them live again next month at @sfjazz .
