My daughter drew this at my wife's job one day and it changed everything. Red Boot became the speller of the seven seas!

She designed the characters. I built the app. And tonight it taught our own daughter to spell. 👨‍👧
Watch the end — she misses "national," keeps going, and a couple words later the app brings it back. This time she gets it from memory.
That comeback is coded in. Ocean Blue runs on real learning science:
🧠 Spaced repetition (Dr. Robert Bjork) — missed words don't disappear, they cycle back at the right intervals until they stick.
✍️ The testing effect Roediger & Karpicke — recalling a word from memory beats copying it, every time.
Here's the part most apps skip: the research shows these effects are strongest for memory that lasts days and weeks, not just minutes. So Ocean Blue brings missed words back across the whole session — and only words spelled correctly from memory get logged as mastered. The miss isn't failure. It's how the brain locks it in.
Every character on that screen came from her. Every line of code came from me. And it works — on the toughest critic we've got. 🚀

The 2026 National Spelling Bee is happening all week in Washington, D.C. — 247 of the best young spellers in the country going word for word. 🏆 Huge respect to every kid on that stage. Congrats, spellers — you're the real treasure! 🏴‍☠️⚓

Summer slide is REAL. 📉 Kids lose up to 2 months of learning over break. Snap a menu, a cereal box, ANY words — and Red Boot turns it into spelling practice. Beat the slide. 🏴‍☠️"

I built this spelling app for my daughter and now I need your help making it better.

If your kid is studying spelling words, let them try it free and tell me what you think. Real parent feedback means everything.

Snap their word list → a pirate turns it into a treasure hunt → they actually want to practice.

DM me or drop a comment if your kid gives it a shot. Every bit of feedback helps 🏴‍☠️

My daughter couldn't sit still for spelling homework. So I built her a pirate who makes her want to practice every single day.
She drew Red Boot. I turned him into a game. Now she's acing her Friday tests and asking to play more.
