Sunrise at Nags Head Pier, OBX.
The wind was ridiculous and getting sandblasted wasn’t fun but the colors were beautiful.

Definitely needed to thoroughly clean equipment after this one.

Mentally here this morning. There’s just something about sunrise at the beach that never gets old. The glow before the disc breaches the horizon on the way to the sky, desperate to escape the surface of the sea until only a wisp of connection remains before it’s free.

These images are from my last visit to the World Trade Centers on February 11, 2001.

I didn’t live in New York, I never have. But a childhood friend was in the city and my mom and I drove in from Philly to see her and spend the day. It was a beautiful day.

Today marks 25 years. I cannot look at a clear blue sky, or hear the words “let’s roll” without remembering. May we never forget the lives lost and the lives forever changed that day.

Well, I had high hopes because I’m a chronic optimist. But the clouds had other plans. On one hand, this was more of the eclipse than I saw the last time. On the other hand, still missed the main event. Perhaps I should have stayed at the beach a few more days for clearer skies! 😂 Maybe next time.

The tale of two lenses……..XF10-24mm and XF70-300mm.
My youngest daughter went with me for sunrise at the beach. She’s honestly more interested in capturing the birds so she was shooting the XF70-300mm on her camera. I love how it tells a slightly different story than the XF10-24mm.
