What a fantastic three days of music-making with our young composers! 🎶

Yesterday marked the final day of our Go Compose! 2026 programme, delivered in partnership with Red Note Ensemble.

Over three days, eight talented young people worked alongside composers Fergus Hall and Gillian Walker to create their very own original compositions for Red Note musicians Ruth Morley (flute), Sasha Savaloni (guitar) and Simon Johnson (trombone).

From exploring musical ideas and experimenting with different sounds to hearing their compositions brought to life by professional musicians, it’s been a wonderful opportunity for these young people to develop their creativity and discover more about writing music.

A huge well done to all eight participants for their hard work, imagination and enthusiasm throughout the programme, and a big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!🌟

JUST BRING OPEN EARS.

Noisy Nights is an evening of brand new music, performed live for the very first time.

Three brilliant players, one room full of curious people and eight short pieces:

• Ynyr Pritchard ‘hauntingly delicate like a sigh’
• Alejandro Ariza ‘PITCH, PLEASE’
• Daniel Quigley ‘Bealach Mo Mhuinitr’
• Will Frampton ‘Circle Limit’
• Feargus Hetherington ‘Jackson Pollock _ Number 18’
• Kenneth Li ‘In Semisoporem’
• Archie Wallace ‘Fractured Fragments’
• Oli Cairns ‘earthenware’

You don’t need to know what you’re listening for. You don’t need to know anything about contemporary music. Just come along and see what happens.

And if you’re feeling brave, there’s the 10-Minute Composer Challenge, where a musical idea created on the night could be brought to life by our players before the evening is over.

🎺 Yesterday, Amisfield Walled Garden was filled with the deep, resonant sound of 100 tubas, as Red Note Ensemble @red_note_ensemble brought Anthony Braxton’s legendary Composition No. 19 to life, alongside heraldic brass fanfares.

Part concert, part ritual, and utterly unforgettable. The music reverberated through the walls of the garden as the sun began to set.

A huge thank you to all 100 tuba players, Red Note Ensemble and everyone who joined us for this extraordinary evening.

WE CANNOT WAIT FOR THE TUBAS.

This Saturday, 100 tuba players descend on Amisfield Walled Garden for Anthony Braxton’s Composition No. 19 (For 100 Tubas).

We’ve been talking about this one for a while. Now it’s almost time to hear what happens when 100 individual players come together as one huge, shifting musical landscape.

We’ll also be joined by four Red Note trumpeters, with the music unfolding across the garden as the evening moves towards dusk.

John Harris, Red Note Artistic Director and founder, has written about the back story of the project for The @Guardian tracing how this extraordinary piece of music made its way from Anthony Braxton’s archive to Amisfield Walled Garden.

Click the link in our bio to read.

And yes, it’s SOLD OUT.

But if you’re lucky to have a ticket, we’ll see you in the garden.
