Sometimes you gotta remind yourself of where you pulled yourself out of. Even if you had to do it with no help.
Back in 2002 my little junior heart begged my mom and dad for a convertible BMW.
Of course I never got it.
And at almost 40 this is actually the first car in my name I was able to get.
So catch me and Idris on Lake Shore Drive with the top down.
Also living my 2003 dreams cuz new wheels, a drop kit and more are already on the way.

“The Door to my Grandmother’s Patio Was My Door To Narnia”
36x48 stretched linen canvas

My Madea lived in a humble house down in Beaumont, Texas. Her porch was where we would sit to watch the rain and “let the lord work”.
Her bedroom, her sanctuary, was where I slept on the green scratchy divan comforted by the weight of her hand quilted blankets that were passed down from her grandmother.
Her back screen door, through the small but love filled kitchen is where I would find my escape under the fig and pecan trees.

The empty chicken coop was my castle.

The empty garage barn was my hiding spot.
