When Life…Life’s… Over the past year, there’s been podcast interviews, public television, international virtual speaking engagements and medical school presentations focused on fibroid awareness and my personal fight 😅🤗🙏🏾💪🏾🗣️ And a LOT of documentary film advocacy🎞️💵 We took a break from fundraising (burnout can happen fast) but as life would have it, the mission still remains clear: WOMEN-ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN-need answers, medical care and support for their reproductive healthcare. It’s JULY and that means FIBROID AWARENESS MONTH. Excited? Not really. The fact that awareness has to happen for a disease that affects nearly 90% of black women before age 50 is alarming, but it’s a non-negotiable for womens’s reproductive health. Excited to announce that Red Alert doc project and impact brand has been accepted by the Center for Independent Documentary!! 🍾🥂🎬 Since 1981 the CID has worked with hundreds of independent film and video producers to support the production of stories not often told in mainstream media. Many of the CID films have been seen on @pbs @povdocs @hbomaxes @discoveryplus and appeared at major film festivals like @sundanceorg and @tribeca Filmmakers have been Academy Award winners, Emmy winners and Peabody Award winners.
