Members, take note! Prospectives, reach out! Watch out, there’s no time like watch time so don’t wait to wind up!

(I’d see myself out but I’m all out of escapements.)

It’s not just watches, it’s a watch community.

Some snapshots from members and guests exploring collections and craftsmanship at last week’s November meetup.

It feels like it’s been a while since we had a good ol’ watch meetup and chat. Beat back the looming winter chill by catching these hands!

A couple days ago we had our October meetup and special presentation featuring RedBarPDX member and industrial product designer @sam_amis. Sam spoke to attendees—including some first-time new members—about his history as a designer, what inspires him to create, and what the long process from sketchbook to product is like.

Sam has worked as a designer for @thejamesbrand including several of their knives and watch collaborations with @timex, and also won a design contest to @audemarspiguet for a Royal Oak anniversary celebration (link in bio for more info!). He also showed some of the finished projects he’s worked on and shared some of the watches he’s designed or is particularly a fan of.

Special thanks to our hosts for having us, and to Sam for sharing his passion with us. In the future we hope to hold similar events to hear from others who share mutual passions, and you’ll hear about them here!

As ever, send us a DM if you want to learn more about membership and attending our meetups and events. We’d be glad to have you!

Mark your calendars! Our next event is on October 1 and will feature a presentation by one of our own members who, as a product designer, had designs accepted by both Timex and Audemars Piguet.

Members, please respond to the email sent to you to RSVP.

For aspiring members, please contact us at RedBarPDX@gmail.com and let’s chat about getting you included! taken in Portland, Oregon by @redbarpdx

A deeply heartfelt thank you to @skeiesjewelers for hosting an event and inviting watch enthusiasts from around Oregon to check out Grand Seiko’s finest offerings. Skeie’s is a century-old jeweler in Eugene, OR, and, notably, is the only retailer in the region with Grand Seiko offerings.

Several members of the PDX RedBar chapter made the trip down and were so glad to participate. Nothing was bought, but boy did a few of us really think about it! To be looped in on events like this one where you can check out watches, like the jaw-dropping Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon, in person, connect with us and come to one of our meetups to become a RedBar member!
