I Promised a Young Lady that I would come out and Meet Her...and That's What I Did.

Meet Dr Pepper 🥰
She is a Rottweiler through and thru (despite her Wonky foot) She made it out of a High Volume City Shelter, only to find her way back in a Kennel, Alone ... and then, got Fostered to Adopt...and landed right back in Paws and Claws in Skiatook (who is Wonderfully taking great care of her)...til she finds her 🏡 Home.

(there was something about the return and house training, yet her kennel floor is/was dry as a bone) 🦴 🤔

When they opened up the door for me to greet her, she had Zero interest in me. They put a leash on her and she would not come out. I sat on the floor 5-7 min three ft away...and jus sat there. Very Timid and Shy, to the point where we just closed the door, and the the Volunteer helping me had to go see who was at the front door. I had laid my keys and phone down by her kennel as to not hav any distractions...and she came right over and started licking my hand when I went to grab them.

We opened the door again and she Fell into My Lap. The Clip pretty much Says it All.

(I re-live a year ago this weekend every day in my head and what's left of my heart) 💔 Angie and I have been through a lot, but nothing like the loss of Rocco. We had jus gone swimming at Mom and Dad's, he got a splinter in his arm, went for a Pup-Cup on the way home. Chased Butterflies on Boston Ave 🦋 and Trolled Chandler Park. This was Life as we knew it ...

...and that is how we will Remember it. Life is so Precious. 🐾

If you'd a told me...this was gonna be the last time we window shopped...

...I sand bagged this clip a year ago cuz he rolled over 10 days later 💔 (I really haven't been the same since)

In my over 6 decades I have had a half a dozen Labs, all Great Dogs (I could have been a better Doggie Dad)...(I could have been a better Father and Husband as well, but this ain't about that) Rocco came into my life when no one else would have me. He taught me so much in jus 3 yrs. Losing him has torn me apart. The Universe Never said it had to Explain itself to Anyone...for Anything. I do what I can to Carry the Grief (it gets very heavy at times)

Loading a Rottweiler...
#WorkSmartNotHard

saw this clip...cute girl, Gorgeous Rott...super expensive Jeep, and she lifts up the tail end under his gut 🫣

#Why ???

Please, don't let your Rott Jump Up or Down from the back of a truck. 100+ pound Rotts can have 2 things we don't wanna talk about. Bad Hips and Guts that get Twisted. (ask me How I Know) 🐾

Get a Ramp...Buy the Stackable Steps...Back up to the Curb or Hill

(it was Early, I hadn't had Coffee yet, been over 100 degrees...I did Not get to the Wardrobe Change) 🤣

Red Dirt Rescue / just a guy 🐾

a Humble Shoe-Shine Boy (UnderDog) that wound up at the Shelter as a Volunteer a year ago. First dog out the Shoot..."Here, you like Rottweiler's"...???

and so I take Hatchi outside, play with him, get some great video, go home and get him on the Internet. 2 days later I have someone on the way to pick him up, I call, he apparently Crossed over a Bridge the day before.

I keep Hatchi's kennel card on my desk as a Reminder. (I don't Trust the System) Every morning I Fulfill a Promise to a Dead Dog (that wasn't even mine) that I would Do Something. I post a Dog, forward someone else's post, I make phone calls and have Homed Several Dogs in the Past Year.

Help me Help these Dogs get the Exposure they Need to get the Second Chance they Deserve 🐾

Give them a LIKE...❤️
Share the Post 🙏🏼

Thank You

Personal Time Marker

It's been 333 Days since I lost my Teddy Bear 🧸

My Wife and I have Gone through a lot, This Loss by far has Taken a Toll. It has not gotten any Easier and Time won't Heal this Wound.

Learning how to Carry the Grief and Letting Go the Reason Why are the most Difficult Things I have had thrown on my Plate.

"The Universe Never said it had to Explain itself to Anyone"

I wake up every morning to an Empty Cold Black Steel Collar, pick it up, give it a Kiss, Look Up into the Heavens and Tell Him how much I Miss Him and that I Love Him 🐾

Drop a Leash (in a High Traffic Area this is NOT Applicable) 😉

after about the first bit of his walks (10-15 min into it) I really don't need to use the leash much. When we first hooked up last fall 🍂 the concern was his Health. (30 lbs later and a Clean Bill of Health) We have been walking this Office Park for almost a year now. We started out with the Clicker and a Pouch w Zuke's. (I couldn't tell you the last time I put the pouch on my belt) 🤔 Rotts are Very Smart, Quick Learners
