Battle of the Lowlands. What. A. Day. 🔥🇧🇪

Unforgettable. Electric. Emotional. Without a doubt, one of the coolest pickleball days we’ve ever experienced.

A packed crowd, incredible energy and a battle until the very end… And with all of you behind us, we fought our way to a 7–5 victory over the Netherlands. 🇧🇪⚔️🇳🇱

The atmosphere was unreal. The noise, the support, the goosebumps… we felt every single bit of it. 🖤💛❤️

To everyone who came out, cheered, screamed and supported Team Belgium: THANK YOU. We loved every second of it, and we hope you did too.

This was the perfect day to give us a boost for the Pickleball World Cup next week in Vietnam. We promise we will do everything to make Belgium proud. 🖤💛❤️

De tweede editie van de Flemish Open was weer absoluut de moeite. TC Racso bleek een fantastische locatie voor pickleball te zijn en alles was weer tot in de puntjes verzorgd door @pickleballvlaanderen . Met maar liefst 8 Foxes-ploegen in de medailles was het ook sportief weer een succes voor ons kleine clubje 🦊

🇧🇪 WELCOME TO BATTLE OF THE LOWLANDS 🇳🇱

Early September, both Belgium and The Netherlands will go to Vietnam to compete at the Pickleball World Cup. But before they leave, we’re bringing both national teams together for one big celebration of pickleball: the very first Battle of the Lowlands.

And this is not just something to watch… this is something to be part of. 👀 During the day, pickleball players from all levels from Belgium and The Netherlands can compete themselves in an open doubles tournament on a unique location. After that, the spotlight moves to Center Court, where the 19+ and 50+ national teams will face each other in a real Belgium vs. Netherlands showdown.

🎯 What to expect:

🏓 Open men’s & women’s doubles tournament for all levels

🇧🇪🇳🇱 Players and supporters dressed in red and orange to represent their country

🏟️ A beautiful Center Court with stands and national team action

🔥 National teams (50+ & 19+) competing themselves in the Pickleball World Cup format: Singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles

🍻 Food, drinks, music, giveaways and a great party atmosphere

🎁 Great and cool prizes to win during the Belgium vs Netherlands matches

⛸️ A truly unique venue: a covered outdoor ice rink turned into a pickleball arena

For work, I write social media posts every day. For myself? Almost never. But this feels like a good exception. 😊

Last Sunday was the very first Belgian Pickleball League. An idea that had been living rent-free in my head for a very, very long time.

120 players signed up. Everyone was drafted into teams of 4, and nobody except the captains knew their teammates until the morning of the event. I still remember people telling me it was a crazy idea because “nobody wants to play with people they don’t know.”

Thankfully, I’m stubborn. 😅

With a huge amount of help from Mark and @kokskes, we made it happen. And honestly, the weeks before the event were stressful and even frustrating. Because when one player dropped out, it affects the other 119.

But at 9:30 on Sunday, all 120 players were there. 🙌

When we revealed the draft, I saw more excitement than I ever expected. It genuinely gave me goosebumps.

Throughout the day I watched people laugh, cheer, celebrate, and battle together with teammates they had never played with before—sometimes complete strangers. In what other sport does that happen? ❤️

That’s exactly what makes pickleball so special for me and why I fell in love with the beautiful sport 2 years. And right now I’m so proud to be part of this incredible community.

The amazing feedback afterwards wasn't just for me, Mark, Kristof, the volunteers, or my wonderful girlfriend @vervloessemsasha who is always always the biggest help (and she is absolutely right when she says I'm slightly crazy every time I organise something 😂).

But, those compliments also belongs to all of you. The BPL was great because the people were great. 🫶

And now everyone keeps asking: “When is BPL 2?”

Half the time I think “hell no, never again.” The other half? “We shouldn't wait till 2027, right? Should we do it again this year?” 😂

We'll see what the future brings. But if it happens, it’ll be bigger, better, and even more awesome. 🚀

And if you've made it this far in reading, thanks! I probably don't say it enough, but I appreciate everyone that supports me or the Red Foxes every time we organize something.
