Quick update: New transmission is back in the car, quick polish, and a strut bar installed. . . So a bit of background info, I had a grinding noise in my trans when the clutch was out, and thinking it was a throwout bearing I pulled the trans only to find out the throwout was perfect. This led me to tear down the trans and find the countershaft main bearing was completely shot (puking out balls lol), so naturally I hopped online and found a good deal for a used trans and threw it in with the help of a buddy. In exactly one week the car was back up and running. In the meantime I started the paint correction process to mild success. The paint is blurry heavily sun damaged and has a shitton of very deep scratches and swirls. I did what I could with a wool pad and the result is satisfactory for now, the scratches are so deep and The paint is so hard that I risk completely burning thru. The car is going to need major paint work anyway, so I'm not too bothered, just want it to look better in the meantime. I also picked up a part I've been very excited for for quite some time. Sometime in March I ordered an OG old logo Nismo strut bar with the brake master cylinder brace and all the associated hardware. It's a little bit rough around the edges, just like the car, so it fits right in. Took the 240 on it's first canyon drive! Also installed the first mod to this car, the world's worst condition Nardi Gara 3 lol. . . . The Nardi is the perfect pairing for this car imo, it's smaller and better proportioned than the original wheel and the thin rim really encourages driving with your fingertips. I've been grinding on this car fixing a lot of small issues here and there. Chucked in a very nice '91+ radio and a rare EUDM optional equalizer to round out the cabin a bit. This brings me onto my current project, my 63k mile 1990 240sx. . . I've been looking for a car in this exact spec for quite some time now and got exceptionally lucky finding this one. I was on the hunt for a 89-90 Hot Red slick top even before selling my last S13, and while my car was listed for sale, I came across this exact car. Unfortunately literally one day before I managed to sell my car, this one was sold. I spend the next 8 or so months desperately scouring the entire west coast for something similar to no avail. But 4 days before I had to catch my flight back to my uni, I decided to look in some new places and saw a listing that interested me. After looking at the ad for about a minute, I quickly realized that it was the exact car I missed out on 8 months ago and knew I had to have it. The car drove back 270 miles from Las Vegas to California with absolutely no problems. The car is in an overall great condition, but due to sitting outside for many years, many parts are sun faded and the paint is damaged in places. Some of my other cars over the years. . . The integra GSR was bought as a daily driver while working on my S13, but proved to be incredibly unreliable and not particularly engaging. A quick history on my old 240sx. . . This was my 1st car, bought back in December of 2017 for 4k. It was a pretty rough, salvage title car that I set my heart on and wanted to bring it back from the brink of death. At the time I didn't really know much about wrenching besides some theory, and I learned everything I know on this car. I think I turned almost every single bolt and the only work that wasn't done by me was a new cat welded on by a muffler shop 😂 I was never completely satisfied with how the car turned out, and over time the salvage title and stuff that I couldn't fix, such as bent frame rails and pinch welds, started eating away at me and after 5 and a half years I decided to part ways.
