When you’re training for a HYROX it isn’t simply about working hard. You have to train smart and train your body in a way that replicates what you’re going to be doing on race day. Every single one of these 5 training styles serves a specific purpose and is there for a reason.

From building raw strength to training my body to perform for extended periods of time, all of them are a necessity.

Swipe through to see how I structure my sessions and save this post to test them out in your next training block.

3 Mistakes that ruin a beginners first HYROX race (and how to fix them) 👇🏼

1️⃣ Treating it like a regular running race
HYROX isn’t standard running, it’s compromised running. Running 1km right after a heavy sled push is completely different than flat road miles.
✅ The fix: Practice running intervals directly after station work to condition your body under tension and build fatigue resistance

2️⃣ ZERO pacing strategy for the first 3 stations
Your race isn’t won on the first 1km and the Ski-erg, but it definitely can be lost. Sprinting the first kilometer and gassing out on the Ski-erg means you’ll have nothing in the tank for the burpees, lunges, and wall balls later on.
✅ The fix: Train with strict heart rate targets, establish your comfortable station paces and keep it consistent on race day, set yourself up for success.

3️⃣ Going too heavy, too early in training
Trying to hit competition weight too early breaks down your form, builds bad habits, and increases the risk of injury.
✅ The fix: Master the movements, build a strong foundation and consistent breathing rhythm, progress the weight naturally as your body adjusts and perfects the movements.

If I had 12 weeks to prepare for my next race this is the method I’d use, it’s worked for me in the past and keeps the guessing out the equation 🔥

12-8 Weeks Out: Build the engine focus on putting on the miles and lifting the weight 💪🏼
7-4 Weeks Out: Specified Race Training, practice makes perfect so get the simulations in to perfect transitions and pacing.
3 Weeks Out: Peak & Maintain stay consistent, keep your intensity, and set your body up for success.

Many people believe cutting carbs will lead to them leaning out, but if your goals are to get stronger and improve your running, low carbs is a trap.

Carbohydrates are what our body use to push the limits in the gym. If your carbs are too low, your strength will tank, your running will slow down, and your recovery goes out the window.

Heres a quick breakdown:
🥔 Best carbs for output in the gym: Jasmine rice, white/sweet potatoes, oats, sourdough bread, fruits, and honey.
⏱️ When to time it
• Pre-workout: Quick acting and easily digestible carbs 60-90 minutes prior to your workout.
• Post-workout: Immediately replenish yourself with carbs to kickstart your muscle recovery.

Stop fearing carbs. Fuel for success

First Hyrox in the books. Hands down one of the best experiences and so happy to share it with some of my favorite people.

From the Sunday training sessions to the countless videos explaining the rules (still unsure about to be honest 😂) it was all worth it and made the experience that much better.

The community I have found @burnbootcamphendersonwestnv has been life changing to say the least. Everybody I have met has inspired me in a different way and allowed me to do things I would’ve never thought possible.

To @ccelarmo thank you for all the hard work you put in the last few months to prepare all of us for this incredible weekend. Your leadership and dedication is truly admirable.

Lastly, a special thank you to my partner @littlemeza there’s nobody i’d rather go through all the suffering with. You pushed me beyond what I thought I had in me and I am so proud of you for all the work you put in and couldn’t be happier with the result we produced this past weekend.

Every moment leading up to this race was worth it and I couldn’t dream of a better group to share it with! Super excited for the next one 🤙🏼 by @redi.fit_

Soaked in every second 🇮🇹

This trip was all about experiencing new things, incredible food, great coffee, and quality time with the people that matter most!

Huge thank you to @littlemeza for showing me around, making this trip so special, and creating memories I’ll never forget. Having a partner who pushes me in the gym, stands by me in life, and makes every adventure this much fun is everything.

Today was a hard call. A couple months ago I ruptured my ankle. I took precautionary measures: stopped running, iced, elevated, and did lots of rehabilitation exercises to hopefully get it ready for today’s race.

Everything felt good leading up to this point and I had set the expectations high for a sub 60 finish and hopefully my breakout race achieving my first podium finish.

Things were looking good at the start of the race, I was in 1st and had an estimated finish time of 58 minutes it was all coming together. I got to the sled push and the very first push my ankle popped and the pain shot to my knee.

I finished the push and that’s where medical decided to pull me to check it out, I initially refused to step off and continued for my next run where the pain started to increase and after that kilometer I decided finishing this race was not worth the potential damage I was further causing.

Today was a huge bummer and I hate leaving things unfinished but instead of beating myself up and feeling sorry for myself I’m using this as a lesson: Clearly the injury hadn’t fully healed and I pushed it anyways and paid the price. This is an opportunity not to tear myself down but to build myself up to be even stronger.

Crushing your Hyrox isn’t just about the training sessions, you need to make sure your nutrition is dialed in to ensure you are setting your body up for success. 🍽️

Swipe through to dial in your nutrition strategy for race week! 📲👇

Quick Breakdown:
⚡️ 24–48h Out: Top off those muscle glycogen stores with easy-to-digest carbs.
🍽️ Night Before: Keep it simple, safe, and low-fiber. No experimenting!
🥣 3–4h Out: A solid, low-fat carb base to keep your energy baseline high.
🍌 60–90m Out: Quick-release simple carbs for that immediate engine start.

Always forward, never back. 💥

Stop blowing out your quads and locking up your lower back on heavy hybrid days.

If you’re stepping up to sleds, ergs, or heavy barbell work without priming your ankles, hips, and T-spine, you’re missing out on max power output and setting yourself up for injury.

Here is the 3-movement dynamic warmup to lock in your routine before your next session:

1️⃣ Low runners lunge w/ internal rotation (8 reps per side)
Key Focus: Drop your elbow to your ankle and reach when rotating, opens up hip flexors, hamstrings, and lower back all in one.

2️⃣ Quadruped T-spine rotation
Key Focus: Lock your hips in place and rotate through the upper back. Unlocks thoracic mobility so you can maintain proper form through fatigue.

3️⃣ Knee to wall ankle mobilization
Key Focus: Pin your heel flat and drive your knee forward for ankle dorsiflexion and stretching. Crucial for the sled push.

🔁 How to run it: Execute 2 full rounds before your session

Online Coaching: Month 1 Recap ⚡️

A little over a month ago I launched the remote coaching system for REDI FIT. The goal wasn’t just to write workouts, it was to build a system that eliminates the guesswork, enforces intentional movement, and measures your progress in real time. 🏆

Here are the 3 core takeaways from Month 1:

1. Structure > Random workouts
Every session needs a specific purpose. Structure always beats the random workouts.

2. The cues dictate the quality
Details as small as breathing cycles separate execution from going through the motions.

3. Data creates consistency
Tracking zones on running and weights used for specific exercises allows you to organically progress and improve.

Swipe through to see athlete feedback, weekly split structure, and coaching cues in action.

HYROX isn’t just about putting in work, it’s about putting in the right work. 💪🏼

Every kilometer run, every sled push, every row segment has a specific purpose to it. Random training gets random results.

Move with purpose today so the race plan takes care of itself on game day 💥
