Autumn felt well on her way today when I was out in my garden, I even had to put my woolly hat on as the sun dipped behind the trees. As well being busy tidying up my paths and fallen stems I have been busy in my studio - with my own quiet transformations. Trying out new techniques and materials. Working on how I can capture the views from my house with the simplest of line and gesture.

I’m delighted that these 6 mini paintings of looking across the valley will be on show @spiralsfairtrade as part of their new exhibition ‘Thresholds’ opening Friday 9th October. Please come along a see all the gorgeous work by lots of local artists- the Opening Night is this Friday 5- 7pm. Hopefully see you there x

A little sketch today of Mary’s Tree standing proud in Great Stubb playing field, Mytholmroyd. It’s a community symbol of defiance against the destruction of nature. Stories say this stunning 160 yr old tree was saved in 1900 by a 7 year old girl, Mary Whitaker. The tree had been earmarked for timber for clog soles. Mary paid her father to buy the tree back from a clog factory to secure its survival.

My treasured Observer Book of Trees (1968) says of the Ash tree - so commanding, yet at the same time so light and graceful, does a well grown Ash appear, that it has been called the ‘Venus of the Woods’. Love this xx

Happy World Bee Day ! I had a lovely walk in the woods this morning with great friends. A few stunning patches of bluebells were still looking gorgeous and the buzzing of bees was great to hear.

I finished off my bluebells and bees collage today and I’m pleased how it’s come out. Please come along to see this collage made of hand painted papers and a few more at my studio as part of Hebden Bridge Open Studios 3-5th July @northlightartstudios

We are back home now after our amazing trip to India. Our trip didn’t finish in Udaipur but we carried on moving from the super hot North India further south.

First stop was Hyderabad to see this fantastic gang. Thank you @esta_philips @priyannepz @mridulsaha_ and Shiv for the good times and showing us around your city. We loved every minute and it was so great to see you. BTW I had to buy some Old Monk at the airport on the way home 🤣 xx

Venice of the East - Udaipur. Absolutely stunning city of lakes. Sublime beauty particularly from the boat on the lake. I’ll never forget seeing the palace on the island and beautiful gardens and the kids swimming from the ghats

Impossible not to make friends in India - these are my toilet queue buddies at a Jain Temple. We didn’t undertake each other’s language, just ‘India’ and ‘UK’ and my please and thank you in Hindi. Yet the laughter and the smiles, the fun and dancing said it all. Thank you India for being fabulous xxx by @redmousedesign

Fabulous Jodhpur, the blue city. The buildings are painted with indigo to keep the cool and the mosquitoes don’t like the smell. Our favourite city so far. Colour and life around every corner and extremely delicious samosas- like no other samosa I have ever tasted. Only a couple of nights here and on to Udaipur by @redmousedesign

Goodbye beautiful rosy Jaipur, the stunning Pink City. Dreams coming true seeing the talented artisans blockprinters. Fingers crossed I’ll return.

Onwards to Jodhpur, the blue city. by @redmousedesign
