The thrilling conclusion to whatever the hell this was.

If you scroll through you’ll see that I may have gotten through to my new friend Joe. Let’s see what the future holds.

Life’s hard enough atm so for the time being I’ll hope Broken Arts can learn from this episode and return better than they were before.

Hi all,

Yesterday, I recieved an email from @brokenartsentertainment (Slides 1 & 2) letting us know of a new way we could advance our submitted scripts to the final round of their selection process; paying them $20.

Not wanting to have my work associated with a company that would engage in such obvious payola, I politely asked to have my submission pulled (Slide 3)

I was met with a hostile email from Broken Arts President Joe Swenson wherein he claims that writers do not provide anything of substance beyond the script and that paying for access to a final round isn’t inappropriate. (Slide 4)

I diplomatically told him to fuck off with that hoseshit (Slides 5 & 6)

He rebutts with a long email where he admits to not paying any staff and how that model has become unsustainable (shocker) and how dare I suggest that (checks notes) paying for access to the final round of consideration constitutes an unethical practice (Slides 7, 8, & 9)

I sent a final email letting him know that’s very much his problem and not that of the people whose scripts he is producing. (Slide 10)

Don’t send your work to these people, folks. We’re done with producers who don’t value creative work in 2026. Value yourselves and what you bring into this world. by @redsavage0
