I can’t believe you’ve been gone for a year. It feels like an eternity, but also like yesterday. I still dream about you, still imagine holding you, still talk about you, and still feel for you by my bedside. I’m not the only one who misses you, by the way. We all do. There isn’t a single person who doesn’t remember something special about Zinnia Jo. Sunflower is doing a good job while you’re gone, but we still feel your absence. You certainly left your paw print in the world and in our hearts. You will always be loved. Miss you, darling girl. Love, Momma. 🌸🌻🐾

I can’t just not post for #NationalChocolateDay, so here are some decadent dark chocolate ganache-filled roses! These are made with @valrhonausa Manjari 64% dark chocolate and decorated with @roxyandrich blush cocoa butter. I miss making these custom orders! Hope you all have some melty, delicious chocolate today. You have an excuse! 😉

Hey, all. Dog mom @redsbreadsandbooks here. It’s been unbelievably difficult to find the words to make this announcement, or to even call it an announcement, but for all those who loved Zinnia and for all whom Zinnia loved, you deserve to know.
Zinnia Josephine Starr Nicolson-Singh, my first service dog and child, has passed away.
She passed in her mama’s arms, in her own bed at home, on January 4th, 2024 at 15 years old.
As devastatingly heartbroken we all are, from mama to sister Sunflower (who is still wondering why she isn’t home), to Dad, to Nuni, Grandpa, Uncle, and many aunties, we are trying to remember that she filled her world with love. There was nothing more important to her than her love and duty to me, as her mom, but she was never stingy with that love. It was for everyone who wanted it.
I’ve loved her for her whole life. Throughout every stolen cupcake, every chewed up paintbrush, every time she took Auntie @jacquepence for a walk, every midnight walk, every lap cuddle, every time she brought me my meds, every excited jump for dinner… and every time she saved my life when I was trying to take it. She was mischief, sass, sunlight, humor, elegance, and love, all covered in endless fur.
I won’t be changing the account name anytime soon. I have so many memories to share with you all that I previously felt weren’t “Instagram-worthy”, or showed my face, that I no longer feel ashamed to share. I wish now that I had posted them all without a care, but you’ll see them anyways. I want everyone to see the photos and videos I get to hold close to my heart to remember my dearest Zinnia Jo.
Any love and support is more than appreciated. But for those of you who’d like to really contribute something special, please drop a comment and share a memory you have of her. We’re going to honor this princess with as many funny, cute, and loving stories as possible.
