One of our first pictures together vs our last.

Cancer took my boy away from me today. I’m distraught, I’m heartbroken, I’m inconsolable.

I didn’t even get to sit in the shock of his diagnosis for 24 hours before seeing that his ‘old self’ wasn’t going to come back after that. It was too late and he became too fragile. I was completely blindsided, and I’ve been robbed of an irreplaceable bond. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye, and 6 years together was not enough. I want, and need, him back.

Rescuing Mochi was one of the greatest and most fulfilling decisions I’ve ever made, and I don’t yet know how to navigate the world without him. We were a team..that was my son.

My baby, my rugrat, my Mochikins.

Y’all, your nephew is 10 years old today. 10!!!! 😭😭 This is my first time having a dog long enough to see them grow into their senior years and it’s a bittersweet blessing for me.

I can’t believe I’ve already lived here for a year. Moving grief really kicked my ass this time around but I have no regrets. Here are some takeaways (& beautiful memories) so far:

- Making up for lost time with my siblings and my dad has been priceless.
- My “I’ve always wanted to do that” list keeps getting shorter.
- Embracing life shifts & making space for what will serve me>>
- I am supported beyond measure.
- Forced myself to be comfortable with rest.
- I’m more resilient than I’ve ever given myself credit for.
- Super grateful for the village I’ve built here so far.
