Practical & soothing; mom always said the mozzies will attack once the rain comes (well....they do sometimes), so lemongrass is synonymous with that memory. Merge that with the reimagination of what home feels while the rain poursc and you get Kampung Rain.

AKAR; roots in Bahasa Melayu.

As I flipped through years of cumulative stories and trauma, within each plastic sleeve encapsulating each photograph, I can find a certain glimpse of hope and proof that I came from a legacy of tenacious people. From Uttar Pradesh and Batu Pahat they built their lives around unimaginable challenges.

So take this a collective, a movement or just a diary as I search for the connections my soul has transcended from, and carving new roots for my future through scents, art and designs 🌴🪾 by @reeakar
