I’m blessed to have been surrounded by siblings in Christ and many Christlike leaders this week at church camp. I was able to leave with more wisdom, Biblical knowledge, and a greater hunger for the Lord.
“The most toxic environment for your faith is certainty.” Out of all wisdom and truth spoken into us at Breakaway Camp this year, this phrase clocked me the most. As it should! Faith is not a “good feeling”, Faith is when we act like everything in God’s work is true even if we don’t “feel” like it. When we feel certain, comfortable, and able to predict circumstances/outcomes, we aren’t relying on God, we are relying on our own understanding. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” -Proverbs 3:5. Feelings come and go. They are never constant, but Biblical truth is, which is why we should honor and worship God who never changes, not our feelings. Culture is so quick to find comfort in the ideas of “following your heart” and “living your truth.” Our hearts are deceitful and unreliable. And “our truth” goes as far as the human mind, not as far as the power and ways of God. We are called much higher than following the culture! The void and emptiness you feel in this broken world is not culture-sized, substance-sized, or able to be filled by materialistic things. That void is God-sized and can only be filled by Him. He loves us and desires us to know Him. There is true freedom in Christ, and I encourage you to persue Him with all of your heart.
