• @lillypollard - “Loving seeing everyone’s waves from all over the east coast today. Pumping everywhere!! This pic -thanks @sul_surfphotography 🙌 comes with my little story:

So, I had my worst surf ever at island this morning, got absolutely nothing. Shook that shit feeling off and focused on the fact that I saw a fairy penguin so it was worth it 🤗
Came here afterwards to surprisingly no crowd, just a small friendly good vibes crew and a couple of my favourite photographers out 💦 (water shots are being sent to some mags 🤞)
This wave here was actually my last wave. If you look closely you can see my stoke face. However just after this shot was taken, the shock wave obliterated me 😂 it pushed me deep, lucky I didn’t hit 🍀I copped the next one on the head, lost my board, got caught in a sweep from the set taking me in to Botany Bay. The filthy foam kept gurgling into my lungs as I’d take a breath swimming against it. My stupid hair was out making it even more challenging to swim/breathe. Relaxed my thoughts, pushed the foam and my hair aside to swim. My board amazingly reappeared. I grabbed it, paddled hard, dragged myself and the boog up the rocks, (after being washed up and down them a few times first of course) and took a big breath. Adrenaline rush✅.
@lachieb_01 was kindly watching out for me and waiting for me on the rocks. I stubbed my toe on a rock and bled everywhere. Grateful that was my only injury 😂 It all sounds a bit hectic but it’s all these moments combined that make for a challenging, fun, memorable kind of day. I don’t always prioritise swell chasing but when I do I do it for a few reasons. 1. To get pitted! 😝🤙
2. To challenge myself. Step out of my comfort zone.
3. To gain some exposure for my sponsors so that they may continue to see my value and support me in doing what I love!
4. To inspire more girls and groms to step out of their comfort zones as that’s where real growth occurs (and especially go bodyboarding because it’s the best fun in the world!). You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve with hard work and an open mind.
