“This song asks a simple but really difficult question: what would happen if we chose compassion first? Could it open a door that has been barricaded shut on both sides? Could we take down one brace at a time until the door finally opens?” - @rubyamanfu

We filmed this one at the farm in the aftermath of the Nashville ice storms.
There was so much damage, so much stillness. But standing there, I was reminded that beauty has a way of returning. And creating something hopeful in the middle of what felt broken was deeply special to me. And best of all, I gained 2 new friends in Josh Britt and Neilson Hubbard who directed the video - they were so great to work with. And of course I have to acknowledge my friend Wayne Brezinka who designed the art for the album cover. Can’t wait to tell you more about that as the journey of this album unfolds.

Maybe there is hope to come together and find the way forward through the unrest. I believe in that hope. I hope this song brings you some too. Out everywhere now.

Track 2 from #TheMeThatRemains is “How Do We Get There From Here”. This song started with a question I couldn’t stop asking. @rubyamanfu and I wrote it together and when the ink dries on our story, what will history reveal? Will we have been a part of the problem or a part of how we heal? I think most of us want to say we’re the healer. But the truth is, we’re all both.

A conversation I’m so grateful to have had. After my accident, I learned that healing asks something of you. Patience, surrender, and the willingness to let people love you through it. Thank you @brainandlifemag for having me.

Link in bio to listen.

After a bike wreck and months of recovery, my doctor gave me two words of advice: “LEAN IN.” So I wrote a poem which became a song and then more songs came to make the album.

I sat down with @andrewosenga on The Pivot Podcast and got to tell the whole story about the new record, “The Me That Remains.” Come hang out with us.

A gut-punch of a performance from @amygrantofficial as the PS22 Chorus joins her for the deeply moving “How Do We Get There From Here” — a song written in response to the recent Covenant School shooting in Nashville, and a heartfelt plea for a world with less violence and more compassion. The song hits even harder when its message is delivered through the voices of children.

With that in mind, it's easy to understand why you'll see Amy get visibly overwhelmed throughout the performance, even getting too choked up to sing at several points as she takes in the moment. And despite the weight of the song’s subject matter, the experience left everyone involved feeling hopeful and inspired....

Track 1 from The Me That Remains. “The 6th of January (Yasgur’s Farm)” was written by my dear friend Sandy Lawrence and the moment she played it for me I thought, this is so reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, observing life exactly as it is. It so articulates the unrest that so many of us feel and I knew it had to open this record.
