Big Dreams

About two years ago I was asked by a friend to do a painting inspired by the atmosphere around the old Hall Of Fame by the trackside in Næstved. A painting that somehow would combine Næstved and New York and portrait the dreams that SPINO5, myself and many local graffiti writers have had while painting their names on this great located wall.
Finally I managed to take away my performance anxiety for doing this painting and most of all I managed to revisit my young big dreams.

I remember my early days at this wall that later would become the local Hall Of Fame as adventurous and almost magical. My very first piece at the wall was done with INSPE, DOTS and TITLE from the crew SPECIAL GANG while I was representing the crew MAGIC BOMBERS. The piece said “SCREAM”. INSPE was the oldest one and pretty much the guy in charge. He had just found this new location and was thrilled about us being the first ones to paint it. DOTS organized the paint and I did the sketch. When we had everything planned out, we met in the school yard and headed for the wall. When we approached the wall there was - to our big surprise - a STINGA85 piece painted as a black outline. For a minute we were all a bit disappointed to see this piece done probably just one or two days ago. Still we were super excited so we did our very best using all the colors we had to make the “SCREAM” piece stand out on the left side of the wall. We used some empty oil barrels as ladders for painting something that was supposed to be a dragon on top of the letters. We were all too young to leave the house at night, but we could easily hide in the tall grass when the trains were passing by. There is no doubt that we learned a lot this late afternoon - even TITLE who most of the time was the guy on the look out. Today I am very grateful that my old friend INSPE is still around to share some details from our early graffiti experience.
