The first re-cap video from @slowfashionfestatx 💫 Thank you @ms_dimple93 for putting this together, and for being such an awesome person! This look was truly collaborative, from start to finish. Every body is different, which is a beautiful wonderful thing that I hoped to celebrate in my first ever runway show. I knew this would also come as a challenge for me, as I’ve designed many fashion looks for *myself* over the course of my life, but never for such a diverse range of bodies, and never in such a short period of time. So I knew I had a lot to learn! I relied heavily on my models to share their style and fit preferences with me throughout our design sessions, and tried my best to create final looks that each model would feel awesome in. Before Jordan came over for her first design session (my alternative to the standard model “fitting”), I asked her to bring a few pieces from her own closet — things she felt sexy in — so I could get a better idea of where to start in designing an outfit that looked and felt great. One of the pieces she brought in was this deep moody green lingerie bodysuit. We matched it with the floral sequined mesh fabric I had on hand from a previous project, and decided to go for a sexy disco cowgirl look that would have lots of movement and flash, while remaining soft, comfortable, and stretchy. These pants were SO hard but so fun for me to make, and I had to teach myself a handful of new skills, over a period of just 2 days.
