Still in shock from the other night!! I had the honor of opening the show for Lilian Lara at Denver Fashion Week!!! 🤩🩵✨ I represented Chalchiuhtlicue, the Aztec goddess of rivers, lakes, streams, and other freshwaters. For those that know me, y’all know holatte is my colorrrrr. I’ve always been connected to the water (I’m also an aquarius baby). ✨🌱🫘🌽 Roots of Resilience 🌽🫘🌱✨ A new mural at The Old Fort Country Store. This piece highlights the Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash. It also incorporates a hummingbird, Native Colorado flowers, and symbolism representing some of the tribes of the talented students who collaborated to bring this vision to life. Having worked as a farmer at the Old Fort last summer, this mural is especially meaningful to me. A huge thank you to Deanne Grant and the Creating Relationships with the Land course for their support and collaboration. This was an intentional course designed to promote land-based practice and education with healing and reconciliation efforts at the Old Fort, a site of many purposes, including the former Fort Lewis Indian Boarding School from 1892-1909. This course brought together a Native faculty member and eleven, majority Native students, with the intention of building Indigenous community amongst students of differing backgrounds, deepening the knowledge of the former boarding school, and creating a meaningful relationship with the land, despite the colonial history of violence. This mural project served as a testament to our connections with the land and one another. City Nights in OKC was a really great experience 💙⚡️ The whole night felt like more than just a game,it felt like a celebration of Oklahoma and the people who are part of it. Seeing the @weareround21 x @stevenpauljudd drop was a highlight, and everything had a lot of meaning behind it. @faithlyntaloaseawright bandana design pays tribute to the Native Nations in Oklahoma while incorporating OKC Thunder’s City Edition elements. The Section 110 setups were also really nice. @holatte and @bearswillkillu did a great job. From the Founders 7 Lounge to seeing fans get excited for the halftime bandanas, the energy throughout the night was really good. Every stop felt thoughtful and tied into what City Nights represents for OKC.
