Wow, just wow! The custom stone floor design at Versailles is a work of art. Every intricate detail has been carefully thought out and executed to perfection. I’m totally mesmerized by the craftsmanship and artistry of this project. It was wonderful working with @citatah.official on this. It’s a true work of art - and one that will last for centuries! Watching it come to life is truly a breathtaking experience… and YES, that is a slab of amethyst, along with other precious stones including jade, pink onyx and amazonite!

Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway as the Queen of Versailles.
Stunning. Iconic. Deserved.

But the designer character in the Broadwayshow? Based on me. I designed the interiors featured in Season One of the HBO Max documentary Queen of Versailles Reigns Again.

BTS from Season 1 of Queen of Versailles Reigns Again.

I don’t take it lightly when a project like this comes along.

A 90,000 square foot home. Cameras everywhere. A family whose story the whole world was watching. And my job was to walk in, feel the space, and make sure every room felt as extraordinary as the moment called for.

That’s the work I love most. The kind that asks everything of you.

You can build a house without hiring an interior designer.

You can also cut your own bangs.

We don’t recommend either.

Because here’s what we’ve learned after 25 years and more homes than we can count:

A beautiful house and a home that feels like you are two completely different things.

Anyone can make a space look good. What we do is different. We use our ID.entity framework to find the version of you that your home should be speaking — and then we build it. Every sight line, every threshold, every detail aligned to one thing: you walking in and finally feeling like you’re home.

Not impressed. Not comfortable. Home.

Let me tell you about something that stopped me in my tracks at Phillips Collection.

This new indoor outdoor line looks like substantial architectural stone. The kind of piece that anchors a space, commands attention and feels completely permanent.

It is not stone. It is high quality resin.

Here is why this matters as a designer — one of the biggest challenges in high end outdoor and large scale commercial spaces is weight. Stone is extraordinary but it is immovable, expensive to install and completely impractical in certain environments.

This line solves that problem without sacrificing an ounce of visual authority. You get the look. You get the scale. You get the drama. And you can move it.

This is exactly the kind of innovation we are always looking for at KBCO Design — materials that perform beautifully AND give us flexibility in how we design a space.

Design is always evolving. So are we.

It all starts here. ✏️

This is me sketching fireplace surround options for a stunning high end residential private library. Old school. Pencil to paper. Working through the proportions, the details, the feeling of it before it ever becomes real.
This is the part nobody sees.

People see the finished space — the drama, the richness, the way it all comes together. But this right here? This is where the magic actually happens. In the quiet. In the iteration. In the sketching and the scratching out and the sketching again until it feels exactly right.

Hand sketching millwork is a lost art. And honestly? There is no better way. You feel the space differently when your hand is moving across the page. The design comes from somewhere deeper.

This library is going to be extraordinary.
