We didn’t start at Stonewall.

Long before that — Two Spirit people were sacred among Indigenous nations. Gender beyond the binary was honored in ancient Hindu culture. Woman husbandry existed in Africa for centuries. B.D. women were living out loud in Harlem in the 1920s.

People who loved differently have always existed. On every continent. In every era.

Stonewall was not our beginning. It was just the moment the world could no longer look away.
