One of our favorite activities to do before a break is clean our room and the best way is with shaving cream! 🤯

A little fun fact is that not only does shaving cream cleans desks/tables beautifully but also makes your classroom smell fresh. It gets rid of all of those smelly odors too.

We used the “smells like ocean” scented shaving cream to help relax us while we cleaned.

Naturally, we turned the “cleaning” into a learning lesson too. Instead of doing our usual sand trays, we took our multi sensory phonic lessons to shaving cream. Learning through play isn’t just for preschoolers. Big kids can do it too.

Didn’t they do a great job writing and saying the 2 ways to make the /ch/ sound?

Cold season is upon us and boy was I happy that we were able to whip out our ABC learning activity book created by @creativitybuilders and our @mackidskit creative alphabet sensory kit. It’s been a lifesaver in our house.

This interactive book allows children identify letters & their sounds while learning through movement, crafts, and games.

I’m finding this time of the year to be so busy and at times quite overwhelming. There’s pressure to do lots of activities out of the house. There’s pressure to do lots of “fall” and “Halloween” activities at home. Or at least I feel that pressure!

I have to constantly remind myself that connection is more important than elaborately set up activities. Time together is more important than checking off the lists. Doing things you enjoy is more important than doing all the things.

Here’s our little fall sensory tray. Simple. Sweet. Still engaging. Still beautiful! It took about 2 minutes to set up. Pour some filler (mine is from @mackidskit), add some seasonal pieces, add a little bowl or two, plus a scoop and that makes tons of fun!

I’m going to try to lean into the simple when I can this season!
