Patient is suffering from severe pain,inflammation and limited ROM from past 2 month
We apply her TENS for pain reduction and Cold pack for reducing inflammation 
Them we perform ROM passively and give some stretches
Once comfortable ROM is acheived then we will focus on her strength so that she will perform her ADL quite easily and independently ☺️

*Benefits of soft tissue techniques* 

These techniques work directly on muscles, fascia, tendons + ligaments. When done right by a trained therapist, here’s what they can do:

*1. Pain relief* 
Releases muscle tightness and trigger points. Less tension = less nagging aches in neck, back, shoulders, etc.

*2. Better movement & flexibility* 
Tight fascia sticks muscles together. Soft tissue work helps it glide again, so you move more freely. Good for stiffness after sitting all day.

*3. Faster recovery* 
Increases blood flow to the area. More blood = more oxygen + nutrients for healing. Helps with post-workout soreness and rehab after injuries.

*4. Breaks up scar tissue/adhesions*

TENS = Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Small device that sends mild electrical pulses through skin electrodes to help with pain.

*Main uses*

Pain relief 
Chronic pain: Low back pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, neuropathy 
Acute pain: Post-surgery, sports injuries, labor pain 
Musculoskeletal: Neck pain, shoulder tendonitis, knee OA, plantar fasciitis 
Nerve pain: Sciatica, diabetic neuropathy, phantom limb pain 

*How it helps* 
Gate control theory: Electrical pulses “close the gate” in spinal cord so pain signals don’t reach brain as well 
Endorphin release: Low-frequency TENS boosts natural painkillers 
Muscle relaxation: Reduces spasm and stiffness 

*Common TENS settings*
High-frequency 80-100 Hz: Fast pain relief, no muscle twitch. For acute pain 
Low-frequency 2-10 Hz: Makes muscles twitch slightly, releases endorphins. For chronic pain 
Burst mode: Combines both. Good for deep aching pain 

*Where it’s used in physio*
Post-op rehab, joint pain management, tendinopathies, and as adjunct before exercise so patient can move with less pain.

*Do NOT use TENS if you have*
Pacemaker or ICD 
Over open wounds, infected skin, or cancer site 
On front of neck, eyes, or over pregnant uterus 
Epilepsy without doc clearance 

Reality check: TENS won’t fix the cause. It masks pain. Best results when combined with exercise, manual therapy, and addressing the root issue. Evidence is strongest for knee OA, post-op pain, and diabetic neuropathy. Mixed for chronic low back pain.
