One of the biggest lessons we focused on is something every young grappler needs to understand: every match begins on the feet.

Before there are guard passes, submissions, or pins, there is the battle for position standing. Learning proper stance, movement, balance, hand fighting, and takedowns gives kids the confidence to dictate where the match goes instead of simply reacting.

Our goal is to build complete grapplers, not just athletes who are comfortable on the ground, but competitors who are confident from the very first second of the match.

Great work tonight, everyone. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep building the fundamentals that will serve you for years to come.

Women Only No Gi was on 🔥 today! We sharpened our back takes from bottom half guard, battled through situational rounds, and finished with some live rolls. Two years ago, Rory stepped onto the mat for his first tournament.

Today, he went 3-1 and earned another medal.

But the medal isn’t what I’ll remember most from today.

After winning his first match, Rory lost in the semifinals. Just like every competitor eventually does, he faced disappointment.

Then he had a choice.

Feel sorry for himself, or step back onto the mat and compete.

He chose to compete.

Rory bounced back and won his next two matches to finish the day on the podium.

That’s the part that makes me proud.

Not because he won. Because he responded.

Jiu Jitsu has a way of teaching lessons that go far beyond takedowns and submissions. It teaches kids how to handle adversity, manage emotions, and keep moving forward when things don’t go their way.

Two years ago, he was a nervous kid stepping onto the mat for the first time.

Today, he’s a competitor who knows how to bounce back.

That’s growth. 🥋💙

When the easiest part of the class is the 3 minute wall sit, you know it’s a good one.

I would highly recommend checking this class out if you’ve ever been interested in learning any type of combat sport. Even with a full class, Coach Fransisco made sure everyone got one-on-one instructions and opportunities to try something different. Plus all of the regulars were super helpful and patient with us newbies.

@siribjj always does a phenomenal job with their classes.
