Read, read, read 📚🤓 | Yes, school might’ve ended a month ago, but I am STILL going to celebrate what my kiddos accomplished this past school year. Do you see all those CHAPTER books my students read?! 🥹 If there’s anything that makes a reading teacher’s heart happy, it’s having students actually READING! Look at my #middles showing out! 😎

Friday Night Lights 🏈 | Last Friday started the #highschoolfootball season! I was a #footballmom for 2 years and, if I’m being honest, I didn’t know if I would be able to this year (not being at the high school and all). However, because of the #studentrelationships I’ve built, I KNEW I had to be there for their first game. It was so bitter sweet to see my babes on the field again and see them smiling at me through their helmets. THAT made it all worth it. 🥹 To my boys: I will FOREVER be your Football Mom. 💚💛

2022-2023 ✅ | I don’t normally post a “leaving my classroom” type of video, but this year deserved one. This school year was the first school year in the past 3 that I DIDN’T have to go to treatment. 🙏🏽 I got to spend a full year in my classroom - 5-314! This room has grown to be a very special place to me and my students. It’s been my classroom for 2 years - the longest I’ve ever spent in one, single room. I’ve watched a lot of the same students grow from sophomores to juniors and now, juniors to seniors. It became the meeting place for an amazing organization that I love so much. It’s the fun and rowdy place to be on a good day and it doubles as safe space for my students when they need one. The relationships that have started, been nurtured, and became unbreakable in this room will be something I always treasure and never take for granted. Of course, February is not the only time I celebrate my black beauty, culture, and heritage, but it’s something about when all of us come together to do so. December 1, 2022🎄 | One of my love languages is gift giving and I love the holidays because I’m able to fill my cup and let it overflow! I honestly can’t remember the last time I was genuinely excited for the holidays. My mental health has been a barrier and made sure to keep all joy from coming in. It’s crazy to think back and realize just how different my mindset and outlook were, but not anymore. I got myself a BIG person tree with lights! This is going to be the best holiday season I’ve had in a while. 🥹❤️

You never know what might change your life, but you sure did 🥹 | 4 years ago today, a small kitty cat was laying on the sidewalk in front of an apartment - scared and alone. Then that same small kitty followed me up three flights of stairs and sat in front of a door meowing. It was my apartment and my door. I didn’t know how much I needed Oliver, but he knew and he chose for me to be his forever human. I don’t know what I would have done without this little animal, but I’m so glad he’s been here and I’m so glad to call him mine! ❤️ Happy #FoundYouDay Ollie!
