The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’”- Tom Brady- 1 Year ago today, I tore my right patellar tendon doing what I love to do more than a lot of things. Playing basketball. A lot of mixed emotions, fear, anger, frustration, PTSD, sadness, felt alone. This was the hardest thing I’ve been through in my life, and there were days where I cried myself to sleep. After the injury, my kneecap was in my thigh for a week(ME!WTF???) until surgery. Post surgery, I had to keep my leg completely straight for 7 weeks. Only to gradually bend it at physical therapy. Initially I was terrified to bend again. Legit thinking my leg would never be the same, if bendable again 😂. Music (Cleo Sol), my family and friends are what got me through the first couple months because honestly life was miserable. I dead ass, needed people to LIFT MY LEG INTO THE CAR. I’ve never been so dependent and sad in my life.After a lot of physical therapy, a lot of praying and prayers for me, a lot of thinking and most of all, a lot of time I am back to living life… somewhat close to normal 😂. Jogging, speed walking, running my mouth, and of course officiating the game I do still love with all my heart. I have to say thank you to everyone who was there for me, and the well wishes during this insane time. But I have to thank myself, I learned something about myself that I wasn’t sure was there. This has been the highest mountain, I’ve climbed in my life, but I know now more than ever as it says on the Bible and my left wrist Luke 1:37: “For nothing will be impossible with God”. by @refmitch_
