The Jaguar XJS remains one of the most distinctive grand tourers ever made, defined by a dramatic departure from the curvaceous styling of its legendary predecessor, the E-Type. Designed under the guidance of aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer and finished by Doug Thorpe, the car's most iconic and controversial feature is its sweeping flying buttresses—the rear roof pillars that frame the inset vertical rear window, structurally optimizing aerodynamics while creating an unforgettable silhouette.
