Memories of Tema, 2026

Thinking back on my residency with Limbo in Ghana and the bit of time I spent in Tema. The drive there, the spirit of the artisans I got to work with, the cocoa factory that was established during Nkrumah’s time. As well as the coast we drove past on the way back. #OpeningTonight | Reginald Sylvester II

Please join us tonight for the opening of Until Then from 6–8pm.

In a new series of paintings, Sylvester continues to explore the associations and implications of the readymade, as well as the history and limits of abstraction. Freighted with a history of combat, disguise, and temporary shelter, yet alive with an expressive bloom of paint, the paintings address our age of uncertainty, becoming forms of both self-protection and self-presentation.

The exhibition will run through 1 August 2026.

To coincide with London Gallery Weekend, Reginald Sylvester II will be in conversation with curator Natalia Grabowska at the gallery on Sunday, 7 June from 4–5pm.

To coincide with London Gallery Weekend, Reginald Sylvester II will be in conversation with curator Natalia Grabowska.

The conversation will expand on the artist’s practice, engaging with the new series of paintings created especially for the exhibition, in which Sylvester continues to explore the associations and implications of the readymade, as well as the history and limits of abstraction.

The event has limited capacity, and tickets are essential. It will be seated, though some standing may be required. Kindly inform the gallery if you have any access needs.
