Last week I finally mustered up enough foolishness to flip my cameras’ functions to video mode. What better time to experiment with settings and frame rates than at night at the gun range? And then trying to figure out how to do anything in Da Vinci Resolve the last couple days… 🫠

This is the short version of a 5 min highlight video. I have no idea what the duration limit is for uploading (do people even like longer videos? I actually much prefer long edits that aren’t trying to fit a hundred clips under a few minutes…)

@sp.sincity is a Las Vegas crew of like-minded friends who share the same values in responsible self-improvement through training together. Occasionally, they test their gear and skills against the clock for casual bragging rights in a game referred to in the summer as Redemption Night.

Thanks to these folks (and others not tagged below) for being cool and letting me lurk around:

Got a short notice that the @afthunderbirds were going to do a flyover of the Vegas area, and their path included Mount Charleston. It was a bit tricky trying to decide where to set up at. I had an idea of getting them circling around the peak (if they were going to do that) but didn’t have much time to scout around, so I settled for a familiar view just down the street.

This completely stock @ford Maverick hybrid is armed with street tires, low clearance and zero off-road upgrades. It did stuff and drove places that most other stock Maverick owners would never find themselves in… this was made possible by:

- The eternally wise words of @evandavis73: “yeah it’ll be fine”
- Our good friend’s undying faith and trust
- A pair of 12 year old Max Trax boards that are still holding up strong
- The teamwork of a solid crew who know how to have a good time 🫡

@evandavis73 putting our 200 series Landcruiser through some hunter-jumper exercises. 😂

This trusty steed (lovingly nicknamed “Tatanka”) has been our main vehicle for many jobs and adventures that demand not just off-pavement capability but reliability.

Over the years it’s been outfitted with parts from @totalchaosfabrication . The most recent upgrade included 3.0 @kingshocks which have been an absolute game changer for navigating comfortably and efficiently through the very rough desert and mountain terrain we frequent. Added bonus is being able to take it on some fun little sand dune wheelies lol.

The fun part about trying to do a night sky photo is aiming the camera a general direction and not knowing how it’ll turn out until the exposure is done. While huge moths are flying into my face and the insane vibration of their wings tickling my ears. And of course, Evan is chuckling at my efforts to dodge the moths without knocking over the tripod.

17 years of embodying joy, comfort, grace and wisdom. Sparrow was truly a blessing to anyone who spent time with him. While I can’t help but miss his physical presence, I know that his spirit lives on with renewed strength and is now as free as can be. by @reginetrias

Rebelle Trials in the dunes was surreal. Incredible training opportunity set against a backdrop of insane sunrise skies, wind and sand. Thanks to everyone who showed up to take it on!
