in july i drew one man-made object and one natural object a day (at different angles and sizes) to expand my visual vocabulary a bit. i gave the finished drawings to josie, who watercolored them with some fun brush pens we had lying around! which is ur fave? 🎨🥔🌸☁️ by @regularmilkpress

first 4 pages of CHAMPEONS! next batch will be up next monday 😈 in this scene we meet austra, a teenage basketball player forced to move in with her mom the summer before junior year after suffering a mysterious and incurable knee injury.

i was very attentive to my page layouts and turns, which reformatting for a digital format has totally tanked, but hopefully the story still reads as designed.

that’s right — starting next monday, i’m going to be uploading a full, 11-page scene from my current project CHAMP/EONS, a YA sci-fi graphic novel i’m describing as “x-men meets women’s basketball” (and yes, it is giving lesbian heated rivalry 🙂‍↕️)

this excerpt is my primary project from the past 2.5 months at @artstudentsleaguenyc, where i embraced a much more structured and methodical approach than i’m used to when making comics. the result is something i can proudly say is my most professional, polished, well-lettered, and well-executed story to date. i’m taking a pause on CHAMP/EONS pages while i develop the story treatment and work on other comic commitments, but i can’t wait to dig into the next two excerpts, design components, and coloring. i’m looking forward to assembling a beautiful pitch package AND a full-color preview issue.

i had so much fun tabling at BICS with @aslnyc this year! even though the weather kinda sucked on day 2, the venue was awesome and it was a blast getting to sell books and yap with all the friends we at @regularmilkpress made last year.
📖 @chloecarsonart’s newest work & her crazy in demand magnet that she saved for me
📖 @_maralane comic from a CCS class (so jealous)
📖 @snakesforeyes’s dark fantasy comic!!!!! love love love
📖 @cherryandsisters beautiful comic, really great coloring happening in this one
📖 @sourgummyshark amazing comic, genuinely some of the most impressive ink work i’ve seen & i got some amazing advice
📖 @comic_hazard horror zine, i got to check out some of his originals too
📖 affiliate of the press and the homie @mickeyblurr’s gruesome comedy printed at the BKPL
