Unfortunately due to a hit I took against derby I have broken 3 bones in my back. Tried to play through it against Salina South but it was getting too painful. Loved playing with these guys over the last two seasons and excited to support them over the last couple games. Truly blessed for the time I got with my guys! Always a Mav🤘!

Sports in Kansas Football Player to Watch: Reign Illian, Maize South, Sr. QB, 6-4, 210 lbs

Reign Illian returns for his senior season after emerging as one of the top quarterbacks in Kansas. The Maize South (5A) signal caller earned SIK first-team All-State Non-Senior honors after throwing for 2,507 yards and 25 touchdowns while completing 66 percent of his passes in 2025. He also added 232 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground, giving him 30 total touchdowns during his junior campaign.

Maize South brings back several key contributors, including Stratten Ebers, Jackson Riley and Cole Haynes, as the team looks to bounce back from a 4-5 season. Illian has already picked up an offer from South Alabama and a preferred walk-on opportunity from Kansas as his recruitment continues.

“I’m pumped about this season and what it has to bring. The team has been working hard in the weight room and I think we are building some good chemistry. We got some fire to prove some people wrong this year after not having our best season last year. We are excited to show the hard work we have put in this offseason,” he told SIK.

Athletic success also runs in the family, with his sister, Sage, committed to Texas for sand volleyball and his father, Jason, having played football at TCU. #sportsinkansas
