Tending to the foundations of emotional-relational well-being, from the ground up 😌🌱😌
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
One of the primary intentions of my work is to make emotional responsibility not just a more accessible practice but a joyful and nourishing one. The stakes of relational integrity can feel very different than the neurotic performances an unhealthy culture leads us to internalize. by @relational.ecosystems.project

This is the first time I ever reached the Instagram limit of 20 slides in one post, maybe I need to do more formal long-form writing 😂🙃 In the meantime tho, here’s my core practices and principles that inform how I approach gratitude. With anything I share I intend it as an invitation into your own wisdom, not a declaration that mine is “right.” Thoughts, feedback, and curiosity welcome 😌 by @relational.ecosystems.project

The drive to be nourished is what’s underneath so many of our choices and behaviors, but it’s so often projection-based. I was struck about 3 years ago when I was facilitating a workshop, I offered the exploration prompt “What’s it like to connect with a sense of nourishment right now?” A group member turned to me and asked, “Do you mean what kind of things make us feel nourished?” And I re-directed back, “No, I’m really trying to tap us into the real time, felt sense of nourishment.” I wouldn’t have thought too much about this interaction, except the person who asked was an experienced facilitator in his own right.

This is the difference between relating to the ideas of what nourishes us vs. being able to sink into and share in/receive the nourishment that’s available. The difference between objectifying the world (e.g., here’s a list of things that I associate with nourishment like going to the movies, having a meal, cuddling) vs real-time embodiment that directly empowers us to have moment-to-moment harmonization and creativity.

This goes beyond real time awareness to setting the foundations for how we cultivate chosen family, village, and community level connections. When we’re truly rooted in mutual nourishment, particularly when emotional boundaries and the way power is playing out in real time are transparent and dynamic, it’s easier to cultivate a diverse network of resourcing connections and have more resilience when challenge and rupture arise.

I have so much to share on these things, and my favorite way to do so is live and in-person. Your next two opportunities to come learn and practice are next Thursday, 5/28 at Rumble Collective and Sunday, June 7th when I’m subbing for Jen Moss’ Practice in Intimacy at Tango Berretin. Come hang! Feel free to reach out with questions/curiosities.

When I work with clients, I tell them from the start: it’s not my goal for you to have your most powerful emotional experiences with me. I’m well trained and have a lot of capacity to hold anything that arises, and powerful things do occur plenty in my client work, but I’m here to support people with the microskills and practices that root people into non-hierarchical, agenda-less connection as the ground from which organic intimacy can arise and be stewarded regeneratively. That means I bring practices that support people with finding the emergent language of connection from their own embodied experience and directly create opportunities for them to practice with people in their lives. Then, transformative emotional experiences emerge naturally as people are held by integrated, real life community/village/chosen family connections.

I’m beginning a new offering this month, Connection & Solidarity Incubators. In these workshops, I share relational meditation practices, providing participants the chance to track the real time process of attunement and co-regulation in pairs and small groups, sensing the somatic signals of naturalness, nourishment, and generativity that indicate healthful intimacy is present. The practices in and of themselves are valuable, and the workshops are structured much like a dance class: learn the basic steps, practice with different partners in micro-doses of connection, and sense which ways of dancing are feeding mind, body, and spirit in sustainable ways. The hope is that anyone who attends can gain some insight and have some opportunities from which new connections can arise without expectation for anything beyond getting some good dances in.

Connection and Solidarity Incubators are designed for both public and private offerings. If you’re interested and would like to host one for you and people in your life (friends, collaborators, etc), please feel free to reach out, I offer a free consultation to see if the practices would be a good fit.

The first public Connection and Solidarity Incubator will be hosted at the Rumble Collective on Thursday, April 30th from 7-9pm. Limited capacity, see the l¡nktree in my bio for event details. by @relational.ecosystems.project

One of the biggest blessings of my life is that I’m so connected to so many people who care passionately about humbly, authentically, and creatively nurturing a better world. And yet no matter the person, the work, the relationship type, the project, etc, the same problems of burnout, relational rupture, and difficulty finding clear and sustainable pathways to everyday, mutual empowerment are pervasive. This brings me to my core contemplation and practice that has characterized most of my adult life and will do so until the end: regenerative connection.

So much of our contemporary world forces us into extractive modes of relating to ourselves, each other, and the world. We have to prove our value by producing and performing, and our reward is to consume. True rest and nervous system harmonization are hard to come by. All of our power as humans is relational, but our relational fields are •heavily• polluted by manipulative political forces and disempowering social scripts and norms we’ve inherited from a collectively traumatized world.

The Relational Ecosystems Project is what is emerging for me after years of being humbled by my personal and professional journey trying to care for our emotional-relational health. Here, I practice inviting people into their own nervous systems and finding where their truest voices emerge, how to dance skillfully in connection with clear boundaries, and how to sense where nourishing and regenerative relationships are growing organically.

Spring time is here, let’s grow together.

My next workshop, Tending to the Roots of Interpersonal Well-Being, is at Glimmer Wellness Center in PDX from noon to 3pm on Saturday March 28th.
