Now that it is fall, we can officially talk LEAF all the time. Here is a fine example of LEAF printing at its finest. Some say white background, others (know) would say the yellow ink ran out. Whichever you say, enjoy this LEAF of the day. Available now @ebay by @releaf_book

Population of 38 graded by PSA, 0 by SGC, and I know for a fact that one of them is labeled wrong. 1948 LEAF Pirate cards are true treasure, elusive and a mystery waiting to be unlocked. With no single card with a higher population than 2, (3 if you count ungraded) the question becomes, did only one sheet of the unnumbered Pirate cards get produced before the backs were switched to (skip) numbered? This would mean that potentially there are only 4 sets that could be assembled in the unnumbered variety. A quest befitting of true card swashbucklers! @psa @sgc #1948leaf #pirate #vintagenonsportscards by @releaf_book

LEAF Brands Inc, consolidated in 1947. Brands like Overland Candy (card pictured here) were part of that, and these wrappers were early applications of baseball players used to and sell candy. Paper thin and tough to find all together, they capture some of the biggest names of the 1930’s. by @releaf_book

A Set Fully Dedicated to Pirates and Produced by a MAJOR Baseball card company?

Let's have a deep dive into one of the more popular card sets of the 1930s.

A set I personally wish I bought into years ago (we all make mistakes...)

From Blackbeard to Dead Men tell no Tales to a very expensive treasure map.

What is your favorite card in this set?

There is not a more iconic football card, from pose to player, this IS LEGENDARY in my book. As a matter of fact, I’ll be focusing on players like Kenny Washington in the football chapters of re:LEAF 2!! Shooting for an early 2027 release, focusing on Boxing, Football and Pirate cards, as well as new finds, new theories and new stories around the hobby and the cards. Breaking news! You heard it here first!! by @releaf_book

Not LEAF, but monumental nonetheless. My T206 back run of Dots Miller is now complete! Not big money cards, not going to make the front page, but as collecting journeys go, this was a fun one! The I’s have been Dotted! #t206 #vintagebaseballcard @psa @sgc by @releaf_book

The toughest of the LEAF premium Babe Ruth’s by far is the blue back. Of all the premiums, it is the only premium that has color applied to it. They are tough to come by but SO awesome to see in person! by @releaf_book

It’s been a while since we’ve done Battered Babes, in honor of the all star game, here is a tribute to those LEAF Babe Ruth’s who have sacrificed it all, to be a collectible card. by @releaf_book

I had a great time chatting with @leiladunbar at the Antique Roadshow event at the @gcvmuseum! We had originally connected when re:LEAF came out and got to meet in person today! Thank you Leila for the invite and taking the time to “talk shop”! Sports collectible segments on @roadshowpbs have always been my favorites, and Leila is a legend! Today was a great day! by @releaf_book

In case you want to not only add to your LEAF collection, but also have an urge to buy an 80 year old piece of gum for $715, @ebay is the place to go. #1949leaf #bubblegum #collectwhatyoulove by @releaf_book

Here’s a Monday tribute to the trimmed, torn and well loved LEAF cards. Changing our tune away from the Battered Babes and focusing on the other cards out there who have a story to tell. One mostly of pain. We salute you all. #1949leaf #baseballcards #vintagecards #thehobby by @releaf_book

To clarify terms when talking about LEAF cards. Print Errors are different than the industry standard of errors. In the LEAF production, there were rampant production errors that make “perfect” cards difficult to track down. From registration issues, flipped sheets, inks running dry and more were all in the realm of possibility. Plate variations are physical changes made to the printing plates, these are the true variations that I identify in re:LEAF for the 1949 baseball set. by @releaf_book
