Introducing: Ethiopia Guji Bookissa ✨

Our first Ethiopia of the year has arrived! Meet Bookkisa, a light-roasted, naturally processed coffee sourced with our partners at Osito Coffee.

From the hills of Shakiso in Ethiopia’s Guji region, this coffee comes from cherries delivered by approximately 30 smallholder farmers to Sookoo Coffee’s Sawana drying station. Osito has worked alongside Sookoo since its early days, building a partnership that continues to bring about exceptional Ethiopian coffees.

What can you expect in the cup:
🍇 Black plum
🍑 Nectarine
🍬 Gummy candy
✨ A wonderfully jammy sweetness

Bright, fruit-forward, and sweet. Bookkisa is our latest offering to begin exploring the incredible diversity of Ethiopian coffee.

A little change to our schedule this week! ☀️

As a small business, one of the ways we try to care for our team (and ourselves) is by making space for time off and a slower pace every now and then.

This week, we’ll be adjusting our hours to 7am–3pm, Monday through Friday (10/12–10/16).

We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for us.

Join us Friday morning for Eric’s final shift at Relevant! 🥹 Swing through to talk baseball, cocktails, music composition, or simply to say “see ya around the neighborhood!”

After landing back in Vancouver Eric quickly put down roots here at Relevant and in the downtown community. He’s moving on to focus full time on further developing himself as a composer and musician.

A fixture behind the bar over the years, Gabrielle has been part of so many of our mornings, conversations, and life here at Relevant. Now she’s moving up to an even bigger role as a nanny to some of the neighborhood’s most precious little ones.

What a holiday 🖤

From open until close, y’all showed up and packed the cafe. We loved getting to see so many friends, neighbors, and families gather at a slightly slower pace.

Come through over the next few days to bid Quint farewell as he packs his bags and heads back to Arkansas to dive into the things that have been pulling at his heartstrings.

What began as the admiration of a coffee fanboy quickly grew into a friendship. Quint has been a fan and friend of Relevant since our early days in this café. When he relocated to the area late last year it only made sense to officially plug him into the team and let him get to know and serve the community he’d been cheering on for so long.

Since plugging in with us, Quint has made a tremendous impact both behind the bar and behind the lens. He helped bring our summer menu to life and captured so much of the goodness happening around the café through his creativity and eye for detail. 📷

Quint - we’re going to miss your kind heart, your creativity, your passion for coffee, and your presence around here. 🖤
