What I write in. Which might seem strange, since I’m inside, not out anywhere I’d need it in the sun. Stranger still: I don’t even have a desk. We’re moving, so my laptop sits on a box and I sit on a yoga bolster, on the floor, every morning. But when I put this hat on, something settles. Focus flows down the brim like surfing down the line. 🌅 For forty-two years, stories have lived inside me, on notes, and in bins. But they are not meant to stay stuffed in boxes or locked away in the safehouse of the heart. When you open them, they take flight into the light of day! 💛✨ An Empowered Soul on a Mission There is a saying that healing isn’t linear. That is because the moments of shattering shock, pain, grief, and fracture are not linear either. They do not only live in the past; they arrive in daily present-moment life through triggers, associations, and echoes. As I sit here writing and editing the most challenging chapters of the Remembering The Light manuscript, I sometimes wonder how I can walk back into those dark spaces. The truth is that a deep sense of play pulls me to the page. A joy. The part of me that loves a challenge. Without that stoke, lightness, curiosity, clear-eyed witnessing, and a greater calling, I would lock up and freeze — paralyzed by the weight of these memories. Instead, I heal with each wound I open with words. Rather than reliving victimhood, I emerge as an empowered soul on a mission. Pain is not a life sentence. It is life’s opportunity. The solution thrums right here, right now, in this heartbeat. In the breath, in the senses, in the gratitude for all that is. I wouldn’t rewrite the story of what happened even if I could. This is the hero’s journey within interconnected existence. Healing, for me, doesn’t happen with a gentle dance. Tenderness can still hurt. The transformations occur when I meet the energy of healing with the same velocity that created the wound. Like heals like. When fierce pain strikes, I stay. I dance with the fire, and it shows me I can not only survive it — I can thrive it. This creates a blazing alchemy.
