African Vernaculars & Contemporary Practice is a year-long architectural research elective run by Remi C.T. Studio and @dnarda_af , in collaboration with the @archdepartment_knust, Kumasi, Ghana.
Across four regional studies, West, North, East, and Central Africa, the elective investigates vernacular construction details developed for some of the world’s most demanding climates. The core question is: how do construction details and typologies vary across Africa’s diverse contexts, considering their relationships with climate, culture, landscape, and history? Students document the technical intelligence behind these systems and develop contemporary architectural applications that test how they could be carried forward into modern practice. Developing an Archive.

We are pleased to share that Gateway 2 building control approval has been granted for Campden Hill Court, the refurbishment of an existing apartment in Kensington, London. Remi C.T. Studio supported the application through detailed design, Golden Thread management and Building Regulations compliance. Next, the Gateway 3 process.
