Lou hosts an evening of three commissioned performances at Forum Box. The performances and the artworks in the space take as their starting point the relationship between performance, objects, and material reality. Through objects, the works explore the performativity of identity, masculinity, and parenthood. Everyday observations intertwine with emotionally charged storytelling—humour, anxiety, and the alter egos that emerge from them.

We interviewed the curator of the showroom 3: rules of reality event, Remi Vesala, as well as the artists Matti Harju and Sini Henttu, who will present their video works at the event. showroom 3 will be held for the third time on the Mad House stage on Friday, March 13, 2026.

During the showroom 3: rules of reality event, there will be video works by Matti Harju, Sini Henttu, Cassie, Augusta Jørgensen, Randa Maroufi, Jaakko Pietiläinen, P Staff and Deborah Stratman.

Teemu Ruissalo will present the work Scenario II for Maija, Selma, Alex, Niko, Sölvi, Aapo & Teemu (2026), and we experience Sumuhorisontti (”Fog horizon”) a reading performance by Taneli Leonora Viljanen on bodies, structures, foreignness, presence and the invisible that is yet to come.

update on Lou’s life and future + wrap-up of season 2024–2025 ✿

Lou is a long-term, shapeshifting curatorial project. Over the past years, it has taken the form of a curator-run art space operating within the premises of @outo.olo. The exhibition and performance program has been rooted in open-ended artistic and curatorial thinking, collaboration, and site-specific production — with community at its core.

Never intended to take on a rigid structure, Lou has grown into an entity that takes form and evolves in response to those who work and live in its presence. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the artists, collaborators, and visitors who have shared their time, hearts, and minds with us over the past years.

Lou was initiated by curator Remi Vesala, who also ran the space during the 2024–2025 season together with a dedicated team: gallery elf & technician Tuomo Tuovinen and project managers Teo Paaer & Maikki Siuko, with the support of @koneensaatio. Lou’s visual identity is by Juulia Jokinen.

The next steps of Lou are currently in planning, with more information to come soon ⇝

Hei kaikki kuratoinnin parissa työskentelevät ja kaikki kuratoinnista, kanssakulkemisesta ja ohjelmistovalintatyöstä kiinnostuneet!

Esitystaiteen seura järjestää kuratointifoorumin la 1.11. Klo 16-18. Kokoonnumme Esitystaiteen keskuksen 4. studioon yhteisen keskustelun äärelle pohtimaan mitä kuratointi voi olla huolenpidon käytänteinä. Tapahtuman aluksi aihetta alustaa kutsutut kuraattori ja kuratoinnin kanssa työskentelevät taiteilijat, jonka jälkeen avaamme tilan yhteiselle keskustelulle, sekä ajatusten ja kokemusten vaihdolle. Tilan on määrä olla avoin kaikelle ajattelulle. Keskustelun tavoitteena ei ole yhteisymmärryksen luominen, vaan erilaisten näkökulmien esiin nostaminen. Keskustelua käydään suomeksi ja ainakin tarpeen mukaan englanniksi riippuen siitä, mitä kieliä puhuen osallistujat tuntevat tulevansa ymmärretyiksi ja ymmärtävänsä..

The past two summers I’ve spent time in the Sør-Varanger area, invited by curator Hilde Methi to join a network of researchers, artists, and curators. Thanks to this, my thoughts now travel with ease 1,500 km north, slipping into my everyday life and into my dreams

New Fam, the performance art collective of Teo Ala-Ruona and Anni Puolakka, premiered their latest work Suckers at Lou in August, following a June residency.

New Fam explores how families and communities are formed, and the social imaginaries that shape them. In Suckers, Ala-Ruona and Puolakka turn the bed into a stage where new kinships, tender play, and odd characters emerge.
